Thailand and South Korean expected to revive bilateral trades

  

BANGKOK, 12 October 2016 (NNT) - Thailand is looking to revive trade with South Korea. 

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his South Korean counterpart Hwang Kyo-ahn met during the 2nd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit where they agreed to the revival of bilateral trades. 

They also discussed the possibility of South Korea importing frozen chicken from Thailand. A trade model is expected to be developed following their meeting to determine a five-year economic cooperation framework between Thailand and South Korea. 

Gen Prayut expressed his gratitude toward Mr. Hwang for providing technical support to Thailand for the development of water management system. He also encouraged the South Korean leader to look for investment opportunities in Tak and Mukdaharn provinces as the two cities are part of the East-West Economic Corridor. 

The Thai Prime Minister was also pleased to learn that South Korea was interested in the hi-speed train project, the second Thailand Earth Observation System (THEOS) satellite project and Thai para rubber. 

Gen Prayut further stated that Thailand would comply with the United Nations Security Council’s resolution regarding North Korea’s nuclear test. After their discussions, both Gen Prayut and Mr. Hwang signed two memorandums of understanding on a joint development of a rail system and cooperation on education.
