Hello,

Has anyone made this trip from Bangkok to Chiang Khan close to the border of Laos? Any good places to stay on the way for camping? Thanks

Yes,was up there in July,  a fantastic beautiful town, many of the homes, restaurants, GH's are all built from wood alongside the beautiful Mekong.  Great cheap food and a walking street each night.

Note on weekends its quite busy with Thai tourists,  as not yet caught on with Farangs. Camping??? no idea

Can not help much just an obvious hint, Phu Kradueng National Park.

A must see on the way.

Seems very busy nowadays. It's at least 10 years that I have been there.

Even at this time of year it can get chilly.

I read that has been reopened recently after the rainy season.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions...sorry I haven't responded , we made it a 10 day trip and then got busy. It was great and stopped a bunch along the way and back. A few places we stopped - Wat Pha Sorn Gaew, Khao Kho, Phu Wiang. Take Care.
