Work Permit To Build House

Featured Replies

There has been a couple of discussion re this and it seems to be 50/50 as to if it is a yes you do need one, or no you do not.

Anyway, if you do need one, what is the best path to take to economicaly and quickly get a work permit in relation to building your own house.

in theory you need a work permit to water your own lawn, but how much of the work do you actually propose to do? how well do you know your neighbours?

sunbelt would be best to comment on this.

In theory you need a work permit to shake your dick after you pee.

Afterall there are thais that get employed for that in the bars and clubs toilets hey.

Propose to be on site and show how to do a lot of the work, not actually do it myself from go to finish, cos I am a lazy plick also.

Know a couple of neighbours, but that means nothing as anyone in the soi's could report it and will never know them all.

I have done a lot of the finish work on my house, but mostly inside. I do paint the outside, do my own gardening as do most homeowners here.

While there are many opinions regarding when a work permit is actually required, and I don't mean a literal interpretation of the translated law, unless you are being payed or making money in Thailand, I haven't heard of anyone getting in any trouble on building a house.

If you still feel nervous, pay a plan drawer so you can say you are not doing the archetecture, have all the work done by others and even pay a few baht to a foreman to act as your builder and pay your help through him.

See how easy it is to get crazy about this subject. Before you rely on someones advice and go ahead and get a permit, perhaps you should inquire if any one, first hand, has ever had a problem with building a house witout a work permit. I have never heard of anyone and there are a lot of own homebuilders who post on T.V.
