BANGKOK: -- Air Asia has announced that they will now be flying direct from Bangkok to Kolkata in India.

The inaugural service will be on December 16th. The airline announced that fares start from 1,890 baht and can be booked from today until November 2nd. The travel period for this price is up until October 28th 2017, reports Daily News.

The service will be once a day, seven times per week.

This new service adds to the airlines existing flights from Bangkok to Chennai, Bangalore and Kochi (Cochin) in the sub-continent.

What they do not mention is the middle of the night schedule, e.g. checked just now

FD 120

Depart BKK 00:05 10 Jan 2017

Arrive   CCU 01:10 10 Jan 2017

Baht 2,530

FD 121
Depart CCU 02:10 15 Jan 2017

Arrive BKK 06:40 15 Jan 2017

Baht 3,029.30

Total: Baht 5,559.30 before the payment page and any other add-ons

^^^That's quite a detour on the return: 65 minutes to fly there and 4.5 hours to fly back to BKK.

Have you ever heard of time zones ?  Indian is 1 hr. 30 min. behind Thailand.

should say restart service. was popular before with Thais doing the buddha sites tour & good Thai consulate in Kolkatta

As ever the price u see is not the price u pay ...like a hotel a stayed in in Bangkok last week .. cappuccino 90bt bill 116bt ..all 'thiefing' ..(VAT and service charge)

BTW ..which they would open Surin airport and one of them provide a service .. is it a politically motivated move not to open it?
