Unless of course the thai guy was telling him to jump. That's not my opinion of course but just sayin

Another ignorant comment, and one that demonstrates just how vile and loathesome  commentators are. Who is this "Thai guy" you claim was telling the deceased to jump? Adding the phrase  "just sayin" will not  cover you here.

The video that is available clearly demonstrates that at least one person was telling him not to jump.  There was no Thai involved,  encouraging the deceased to jump.

Not a  rational nor a mature comment to make.

Nothing 'alleged' about it. The sad and shocking video is on Stickboy. Heartbreak, losing all your money, is probably why so many jump here.   R.I.P.

Of the ones that actually do jump, I think many of them jump because of the embarrassment of their poor financial position, after the reality sets in that their relationship was based only on their money.

"Get down man, come on man this is not the place to do it"

Says a man to the jumper.

The jumper then jumps. Like he's jumping into the sea. He holds his nose. The 3 or 4 men on the balcony turn to get the lift downstairs. You hear a loud crash as the body impacts the ground.

IMO this guy was on drugs.

The video circulated on facebook. Was rather disgusting to watch.

Everyone said 'Don't do it man' - but also no one tried to grab him and the crowd stood like 10 feet away..

Once he jumped the camera turns the other way and you'll hear the sound you will never forget once you have heard it in real life before.

It's like a car accident.

Tragic for the frenchman and his family, but it's the easy way out and now some poor folks are forced to clean up his mess..

I really do not think that there was any opportunity to grab him , it seemed to happened very quickly and the people there were not expecting the situation .

There didnt seem the time to run and grab him .

If they would have tried to grab him, if they could, they would have probably gone over with him.

Running towards people who are about to jump would also probably make them jump quicker , its better to try to talk them out of it, but, if they are determined to jump, theres nothing anyone can do to stop them

I know I wouldn't want to approach a jumper unless I was very certain I could save him. The thought of being responsible for his death is not something I want on my consciousness. The people in the video were clearly upset and tried to talk him out. However, he was determined.

Can you tell us why you think that hundreds of foreigners have jumped?  Hundreds?  Maybe you mean a few?

I don't think they thought that far ahead and had really planned to end it in the LOS.  I do think many were on their last dime when they booked the trip and did it sort of knowing they weren't going home, but hadn't really gotten all the way through things yet.  They decided to try and enjoy things for a while, and they probably did.   Then when they had a great month, or a few weeks, spending the last of their money, credit cards maxed out or already maxed out, all money ran out, visa expiring, etc. the final decision was made.  The thought of going home to no great job prospect, not a lot of friends, not much family to help, etc. and other things like that just added up

i just watched the video. The way the man was standing on the railing leaning forward, reaching back to hold on.  It would have been difficult to stop him.  Not much was holding him up. The man holding his nose as he jumped is odd.  Probably instinctive as many people hold their nose when jumping into water.  I don't but I was a swimmer, diver, lifeguard etc.   Who knows what his final state was.  Not uncommon to drug up or drink up before following through.

I don't want to link it.

liveleak.com

search for Phuket

Still pictures on "unwanted sources" (due to TV forum).

An English speaking guy shouts in a loud voice to convince him to stop to no avail.

The sound of the impact is terrifying.

Strange. He appears to hold his nose as he  leaps.

Is it just me, or is there an unusually high number of foreigners jumping off tall buildings in Thailand? There's hardly a week goes by without someone, somewhere in the country falling to their death. I've never come across anything like it in my life. Or maybe it's so commonplace that it doesn't hit news headlines in other countries! Still, it does seems like an extreme way to end one's life.

RIP all those lost souls.

They are suffering from Superman Syndrome ( able to leap tall buildings in a single bound )

The american trying to stop him would make a poor counsellor....he said "cmon buddy, this is not the place to do it"....

then what place is?

That may have been an American citizen, but his accent was not something native to any region of America.  I am from the Northeast and I have an accent and I have lived in the south, (Alabama, Texas), the Midwest (Wisconsin, Missouri) and the west (California, Washington)

He wasnt a Councillor and he tried his best to stop him.

No one could have stopped him , that is what he wanted to do .

Why do you have to find something or someone to critisise ?

"yeah deffo suicide, broken neck, arms, scull, ribs, pelvis, legs, yup! can only be a suicide, what dya reckon he used to do himself then?"

" ok that wraps it up boys, time for tea"
