Passport with O visa and cash, checks or swift transfer in said currency last time Bank of Asia wanted me to open said type of account. Didn't bother to do it though. If I bring money to TH it is to spend it in TH so I keep it in THB.

I had a foreign currency account, in US$, at Bangkok Bank here in Bangkok, minimum 10,000$ required to open account and it has to be wired in from the US. More like a savings account, no checks provided. However did earn interest, but at a very low rate.

I'm waiting for a reply from ScotiaBank. I need an account that allows me to have funds automatically debited by companies in the US monthly. They can't do it unless the account is in US Dollars. I don't want to deposit $10,000... Anyone else have any ideas?

      I came in 1995 for exactly the same reason, I think back in those days everybody came for the same reason, and , people were a bit less pretentious. Thailand was a lot more fun back then and nobody even mentioned the words "family resort" it was sin city simple as that and I loved it. Sadly the world is full of puritans and kill joys, they don't like to see people having fun , some have tried their best to have it all stopped and the "family resort " was their intended aim, but they never quite managed to achieve their intentions so what's left is a bit of a sad hybrid , there maybe a few water parks and other stuff for families to do but there is still a lot of mongering going on, but its far from ideal and a poor imitation of what it used to be. It puts me in mind of "soft porn" narrow minded people don't like to watch it and neither do those who like hard core porn I haven't been there (properly) for a long time must be 20+ years but I did spend a couple of days there with the missis a couple of years before the covid scam, I was not very impressed, the bar girls all seemed to have got a bit fatter and more ugly, and the place just did not have the same vibe it used to have , I doubt I will ever go there again, and I feel a bit sorry for those who never really experienced it back in its heyday

The 33-year-old footballer, currently playing for Scottish second-tier team Greenock Morton, was apprehended at his residence near Glasgow on Wednesday morning. The National Crime Agency (NCA) reported that Emmanuel-Thomas was then taken to Carlisle in northern England for questioning. Emmanuel-Thomas' career began at Arsenal, where he made five appearances, including a notable appearance in a Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk in November 2010. He later played for numerous clubs, including Ipswich, Bristol City, Queens Park Rangers, and Aberdeen, as well as a stint in Thailand with PTT Rayong. The situation unraveled when customs officers discovered around 60 kilograms (130 pounds) of cannabis hidden in two suitcases at Stansted Airport, arriving on a flight from Bangkok on 2nd September.       5 year multiple entry DTV visa (Destination Thailand) from 2024-xx-xx

      Has anyone managed to get a bank account on the DTV? I saw on Reddit that for many people it was a little problematic. I just applied for the certificate of residence here in Chiang Mai and hope to get it within a few days, so maybe that will make it easier to get an account.
