Cancel Work Permit and Non Imm B Extension in Advance?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I read somewhere that it is possible to cancel the work permit up to 30 days in advance. And that then the immigration CW can also re-date the expiration date of the extension to the date the work permit expires (or will be cancelled). Does anybody know about this? I couldn't find a reliable source for it...

Here an example:

Desired date of cancellation of the work permit: 23.11.2016

Go to cancel the work permit on: 10.11.2016 (2 weeks in advance)

Go to immigration CW on: 11.11.2016

Immigration re-dates the expiry date of extension to: 23.11.2016

My target is to avoid the hassle to leave the country the day of cancellation or to apply for the 7 day extension if possible...

Thanks in advance,

Oliver

The work permit will be cancelled on the date the cancellation form is submitted.

The extension cancellation request can be submitted a few days before the date shown as your last day of work on a letter from your employer and they will post date the cancellation to that date.

Great, that means that I can go to immigration a few days before I need to leave the country if I can get the required letter from my employer (which shouldn't be a problem).

Do you know how the immigration officer can check if my work permit is really cancelled? Or does he only check the remark in my passport? (In case my employer would miss to cancel my work permit on the day required). I don't want to get any trouble at the border...

Immigration does not care if the work permit has been cancelled or not. Work  permits are not their responsibility.

All they want to see is the letter stating you last day of work.
