Ranong border run

Featured Replies

Hello there,

Simple question - I have a multiple entry visa which it's first entry is about to expire in mid November,Is it possible to get the 2nd entry stamp (60 more days) in Ranong? I did it before with triple entry visa there and it was fine but I wondered if anything changed or is it still okay to do it there with the multiple entry visa?

Thank you.

Yes it is. Nothing has changed.

I recommend the Andaman Pier border if possible.

Where are you coming from to do the border run?

I'm coming from Koh Phangan.

You should be fine.  When you have a ME visa, it seems ok.  When you do not have any visa (attempting a Visa Exempt stamp), YMMV.  One or two VE stamps may be ok, but they are encouraging non-Thai nationals to get visas.

Southern Thailand seems to use Ranong a lot.  Not sure if they have an actual 'visa run' service that does the full trip (boat + minivan direct to border pier, wait for you to return with new stamp, reverse trip to start point).  Or if you have to make it to Ranong Bus Station and then handle getting to the pier yourself.   In either case, let us know how it works out.

SE = Single Entry

ME = Multiple Entry

VE = Visa Exempt
