Surviving, and exiting, these troubled times

NEW YORK: -- From America to Asia, the world finds itself in troubled times. And as Europe has shown, there is no near-term exit in sight.

 

Just over a hundred days have passed since Theresa May took office as Britain’s prime minister on July 13. Yet, there and elsewhere, many critical questions remain unanswered. 


The economic implications of Brexit and its implementation are still emerging as businesses seek clarity to make decisions that will impact numerous jobs and lives. 


Britain’s exit from the European Union will have limited direct impact on the economies of Asia, but how Brexit unfolds will have serious implications on attitudes toward international agreements, the role of the nation state, open borders and trade, among other issues.

The middle east is in turmoil, as ever. East Asia seems to be plodding along as usual, N America is in trouble, and some European countries are facing an existential crisis. This is because there is no rule of law there any more. Simple. Bring back rule of law, all humans being treated equally, with real punishments meted out to offenders, and the chaos will immediately stop. It is not bigotted or racist to expect all ethnicities to respect and abide by the rules.
