Having read about it on TV ( I wish I hadn't as I'd not have bothered ) I went to the imm. office in one district to get the form, but they didn't know what it was and didn't have any forms.

After moving to my new abode ( a guest house as leaving the country in 6 weeks ) and no longer resident at the previous address, I did what I thought was the right thing and went to new area imm. office to fill in a TM 28, but that caused untold confusion. The imm. officer I spoke to didn't seem to understand what a TM 28 was for, and in the end I just left without handing one in.

So, I wasted my time trying to do the right thing, and ended up frustrated.

What worries me is that I read on a different thread that someone was asked for a TM 28 receipt when they went to do their 90 day report, but I doubt saying what happened will satisfy the imm. officer doing 90 day reports if they ask me for one.

  • You should also have read that offices around the country have different policies regarding TM.28 and TM.30 reports.
  • If you don't make a formal change of address you may need to make the 90 day report at the old office.
  • You could try submitting the TM.28 again when making the 90 day report, but they might refuse it again, and send you to your old office.
  • You can download a TM.28 here: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=download

^^ Thanks, but I tried to make a formal address change and they wouldn't accept it because they didn't know what a TM 28 is.

If I were to use my non valid address for my 90 day report they would see that I had a TM 30 for a new address, so that wouldn't work.

Surely the point should be not that they have different policies all over the place, but that they should have a standard policy for every imm. office in the country. It is after all one country, and even imm. officers shouldn't be able to make up the law  to suit themselves.

However, TiT indeed.

There are some immigration office that don't want the TM28 form for an address change. You new address shown on TM47 for your 90 day report or a TM7 when doing an extension.

They did not want a TM28 form or a TM30 form at the office up here. I have never done either of them in over 8 years on extensions.

Thank you for that.

However, it does seem strange that they would allow one to be on an unreported new address for nearly 3 months if moving soon after doing an extension.

Oh well.

This does help me to resolve the situation I refer to in another thread I just started.

Every time I go near an imm. office now I get very stressed from not knowing if i will have all the required bits of paper, or as when I tried to change address and they don't know anything about what I was trying to do, and won't answer any questions either.
