I wrote such a post hours ago, though in returning, I do not see it anywhere.

So, Ill repeate it.

 

I have been in Thailand this time (previously for a year and a half duration)

for the duration of a multi entry visa which I received

in new ealand office, as I am a permanent resident there.

However, I have a u.s. passport.

 

Almost three months ago, I went to Savanakhet and received a single entry visa

then just went to Mae Hong Son last week to get the month extension.

 

As my visa is up towards the end of this month, November,

I need to get another single entry visa.

I have heard a couple months ago that Thailand is cranking down on people going across the border to get visas.

 

So, my simple question is this:

Is it still possible to go to Savanakhet in Laos to get a single entry visa?

I just got my second one there 2 weeks ago, before I had that I had 2 from Vientiane

In total I had a triple and a double and 4 singles all in 1 passport

The last 2 from Savannakhet

There is no crackdown (that I know of) on people crossing land borders to reach consulates to apply for visas. I think you are confusing this with the limits now being applied on people staying long term with visa exempt entries. Definitely, it is unwise to try to get many visa exempt entries, and especially by land. However, at the current time, any problems related to toutist visas will be when applying at the consulate, not at the land border going out or back. A second single entry tourist visa at Savannakhet will be no problem.
