I'm looking to buy a leather sofa in Pattaya. I have been to Index on Sukhumvit and also Ikea in Bangna. Any other places that sell a genuine leather sofa, with solid hardwood frame (not plywood or chipboard), and pocket coil springs?

You might try Chic Republic, Decca,  and SB Furniture.  Also, Boonthavorn has furniture on the second floor.

Did you mean Decorum?

In the past several people have recommended an outfit upstairs at Big C Extra - where I believe they make to order.

yes.

I would not use this company, we bought one from there and asked a year later to have a small rip repaired and they said we had to,pay 9,000'baht!!.....the whole 3 pieces only cost 30,000. When I questioned why, they then changed there mind and said they don't do repairs. When we bought originally I asked this and they said of course, we make them! Bunch of lying t#%ts! Had it repaired privately for 300 baht and gave it to the mother in law!

You can't beat giving it to the mother-in-law. Be careful, though, those leather sofas are a  bit squeaky. You don't want to wake the wife.

I'm not a big fan of leather furniture over here as you tend to stick to it.

Also ask about the make-up of the leather when buying as cheap versions use what is called 'bonded' leather which is actually just a composite of mashed up leather & paper that is treated sprayed & then polished.

It wears very very quickly, is easily torn & doesn't like the heat, humidity & insects of the tropics:

Bonded leather, also called reconstituted leather or blended leather, is a term used for a manufactured upholstery material. It is made as a layered structure of a fibre or paper backer, a pulp made from shredded leather, and a polyurethane coating which is embossed with a leather-like texture (from wiki)

I bought all three of my leather lounge suites from Index about four years ago. I found Decorum very nice, but expensive, Chic and Decorum weren't really my taste.

Index offerred  the best deal I thought, all three have lasted well, and I have no complaints.

Yes, I agree with you about the sticking part. Yes, one must inquire and verify that the leather, is genuine cowhide leather too. I use the smell test. Leather is much easier to clean than fabric.

Many of the leather sofas are actually only half leather - just the seating surface, seat back, and arm rest are leather. The rest, the back of the sofa and sides is something else that looks like leather.

The Ikea sofa I looked at, actually states that its frame is particle board and plywood, not solid hardwood. Particle board is a delight for termites. Also that sofa has the S curve springs not coiled springs.
