Two last commemorative banknotes up for grabs

BANGKOK, 9 November 2016 (NNT) - The last two types of commemorative banknotes will be up for grabs today at 16 banks and financial institutions nationwide.

According to the Banknote Operation Centre of the Bank of Thailand, the two kinds of commemorative banknotes consist of the 60-baht banknotes celebrating the late King’s 60th birthday and the 60-baht banknotes made in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Thai banknotes in 2002.

People have been advised to check each bank’s website for more information and since not all banks and financial institutions have both commemorative banknotes in stock.

Banks have been prepared to accommodate a large number of people expected to turn up to exchange their ordinary banknotes for the commemorative ones. Each person is allowed to exchange only for one type of banknote.

Got the 100 Baht note this morning (actually it says 100 Ticals as its a commemorative 1902 note when "Ticals" were used in place of "Baht") from BBL.

Long line up at all banks though so do check if they have any stock.

If I want to buy a 60 baht note, will they accept two 30's?
