What? What's the difference between one months imprisonment and one months detention.

No such thing anymore!

Probably an example 4 what that ex-finance bloke meant by 'Wind of Change ...' - a rather inhospitable one, for sure.

Who is/was that "ex-finance bloke"?

Are you talking about Harold McMillan's 1960 reference or The Scorpions 1990 reference?

One interesting note not in this story is she was charged with another lawyer and the other lawyer has died prior to the end of the trial. Not sure exactly why. Another site has slightly more detail on this. Another Thai mystery I guess. Anyways with her going to jail, the Thammasat students should hear about it. A lot of these cases conveniently disappear from mainstream media.

Neither.

Meant this one, little more recent: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/952830-wind-of-change-from-brexit-to-the-us-ex-finance-minister-thirachai

Hadn't heard of that PM before, and the Scorpions? Still breathing? I know they are popular hereabouts, but that's the point exactly ...

Thank you for that info and link, I had not seen it.

Harold McMillan was British P.M. from 1957 to1963. He watched the fading of the  pink from the map of Africa and other outposts around the globe..

The winds of change have tried to blow through Thailand before, but they seem to be too weak.

One month imprisonment detention for laying a wreath in front of the Civil Court !!!

She probably would have been given life imprisonment if she tried what was done outside the French Parliament back in 2014 (https://is.gd/PzZzMr).

Now that's CONTEMPT !!!

Attacking a teacher you attack the system of learning. I am sure these young impressionable minds will file this under "What happens when you piss the government off" be forewarned. A page out of Mr. Xi's playbook.

Symbolism both ways. Thai dialogue.

She has a masters degree from the US.
I hope that the US university she graduated from is kicking up an unholy row so that the international press take notice.

That's one month more than any high-so killer driver will ever spend in prison.
