Flashfloods wash away two villagers  in Udon Thani

UDON THANI: -- Flashfloods swept away two villagers in Udon Thani province after heavy downpours lashed the province last night.

Authorities in Sangkhom,  Na Yoong and Nam Som districts reported heavy rains last night and the subsequent flashfloods sweeping several villages.

Roads were submerged and bridges were damaged forcing authorities to bring in flat bottom boats and trucks  to help stranded villagers at their homes.

Two villagers were washed away by flashfloods.

But only one  was located and  drowned, while another was a 11-year-old not is still missing.

...wow....

...so much for 'planning'....

That must have been  a  large storm.  I  guess the  drought is over  in  at  least parts of Thailand

Geezer

Those areas were much harder hit,  I heard up to 20 cm. but even in the city we had 5-7cm over one night, and that was following 3 days of moderate showers. Not quite what you expect in November. This was after a very wet September which filled up most ponds, ours are still brim full (and that was before the last rain).

My girlfriend lives in a village in Nong bua lam phu, 85 km to the west of Udon thani.

And the floods are some of the worst she has seen, with her fathers farm  under water.

So i guess that rice prices will be on the rise.
