Military razes illegal Pratamnak structures

The military continues its campaign to reclaim public land by razing illegal shelters along Pratamnak Hill.

PATTAYA:-- After evicting speedboat owners from Bali Hai Pier and demolishing the public boat ramp, the military continued its campaign to reclaim public land by razing illegal shelters along Pratamnak Hill.

Maj. Gen. Yuthachai Tienthong, commander at the 14th Military Circle, led soldiers, police and Pattaya City employees in the Nov. 4 operation near the jetty.

The shelters, he said, are considered an encroachment on public land. All unpermitted structures on 18 rai of property were leveled with an eye toward making the area a public space or attraction in the future.

And the 101 walking street businesses + Waterfront condo ? ? ?

I wonder if there are illegal structures on the military land and who owns them. The Thai military itself owns 2.64 million rai. On that land there has to be some exploitation. The bases should be checked to see if there is hypocrisy in the clearer of illegal businesses off gov't land.

what exactly is your point - if it is military land then that is not public land - they can do whatever they like with it

The "good people" have given themselves total immunity from past present and future transgressions of the law.

Low hanging fruit.

No, just the registered offices of construction companies ran by the generals kids and being awarded government contracts. No illegal building though as these are just $2 shelf companies being awarded multi million baht contracts and the generals are oblivious to it all.

Fortunately for many posters on here hypocrisy is not a crime.

Most people do the easy stuff first then move on to harder jobs. Perhaps that's why they have started with some shacks and not a condo or bar development.

A long journey begins with a small step.

Big news for a small event.

After the speed boats were moved and most of the loose rubble had been cleaned, a few shacks/wall segments had been left over.

So it's just a final episode of the Bali Hai cleanup.

Simple demolition work?

Next demolition training:

- Bali Hai Sunset restaurant ~23 October, near the lighthouse

Bali Hai Sunset Restaurant was given 45 days to be taken down after it was discovered to be built almost entirely on public property.

- this nice Thai house ~26 October, in Naklua

I refer to the report.

Not more, not less.

And that is basically the remains of some makeshift shacks of the boat operators.

I have seen that on beginning of the month and taken my own pictures of it.
