rooster59
Do you know these thugs? Injured husband and wife appeal for help after latest road rage violence Image: Daily News More shocking violence has emerged in a week of endless road rage incidents in Thailand. The latest video happened in October but after the victims have received little help from police they have released CCTV footage to try to trap the thugs that attacked them. The video posted on Facebook at @Ebolamultimedia Ebolamultimedia shows a 50 year old man and his 49 year old wife set upon by two men on another motorcycle at an intersection. They are knocked off and as they recover from the surprise assault the men come back. The 50 year old man gives as good as he gets. A man who comes to intervene walks off when he sees a fully fledged fight is in progress. The wife also gets in some small blows of her own The assault ends when a man gets out of a car and the assailants reluctantly drive off. The man at the centre of the assault, 50 year old "Tum" said neither he nor his wife had a clue as to why they were attacked. They have never had a problem with anyone in their lives. They needed hospital treatment for some nasty injuries. They went to Yannawa police after the attack on October 25th but due to the CCTV footage giving no substantial clues the husband and wife were sent on their way to try and solve it for themselves. Police said they would get a warrant issued if the husband and wife could come up with some hard evidence or a name or two. So the married couple decided to go public and put the CCTV on social media to try and get a lead in the case from the public. There have been a large number of road rage cases this week with a celebrity assaulting a motorcyclist in Bangkok, a Belgian pensioner knocked to the ground in Rayong, a toll booth security man attacked on the expressway and a pump attendant kicked in the head by a motorist in Phuket. NongKhaiKid
Will the psychologist who spoke of ' bereavement related ' violence now claim I told you so ? I hope so as he'll be howled down since this is the type of violence that is bubbling away just beneath the surface at any given time.
sweatalot
"There have been a large number of road rage cases this week" I'm afraid there was a large number of road rage cases (and "no reason rage" cases) every weak. But only now they start to get public, thanks to the widespread smartphones
Rorri
Just another day, on the roads of Thailand... Land of Smiles.. well only a slogin dreamed up by TAT, sadly believe by so many foreigners, the truth is very different. Did anyone notice how many illegal left turns were being made from the right turn only lane, no wonder there are so many accidents, waste of time putting road markings down. samsensam
while everyone was calm and tolerant people got away with their abysmal standard of driving and lack of respect for others. but something is changing here, adding road users behaviour to a lack of tolerance and latent aggression with the impotent and lazy police is a toxic mix
NongKhaiKid
This has made social media so can we expect a statement from the national police chief about it being of ' public interest ' or is that only when a so called celebrity is involved ? It would be nice to hear from him on the aspect of the couple supposedly being told by his officers to come back when, in essence, they'd done the BIB's job for them. Krataiboy
It's not just road rage. It's everywhere. Thais of all ages losing it and mindlessly maiming and murdering each other, regardless of the consequences/ If you ask me, the entire ruddy needs to be sent on an anger management course. toofarnorth
I wonder if ' black shirtness ' could be the cause for a lot of violence right now., my TW went to a funeral on the 15th of a local chap who drowned while clearing out a flooded storm drain , 4 days ago an old lady up the soi died ,she has been attending the funeral ever since. My wife is not violent but she has been very grumpy/snappy for the past week.
mike324
until thailand gets tough with sentences, road rage and fights like this will be more and more common as its so easy to tick Thais off with a simple F you. In the west, people throw F bombs around all the time and it normally doesn't end up in a fight, unless you are with a bunch of drunks.

pisico
Want to know the cause of lawlessness on the Thai roads? Have you noticed the cardboard/plaster dummies saluting us dressed in police uniforms? Inside the air conditioned traffic booths there are more of them watching TV and connecting on Line and FB. gandalf12
This sort of mindless violence will stop only when the police enforce the laws and come down really hard on the offenders. Having said that the concept that all Thai's are good people needs to updated to many Thai's are good but like everywhere there are thugs who ignore the law especially when nothing is done to them if caught. Get rid of the idea you can ask a suspect to come to the police station, you can't. If the police know who it is they need to go to him and drag him out if necessary. A softly softly approach is nice but doesn't work in practice.

Khon Kaen Dave
It would be the absolute right way to go about it.Start giving these thugs a sentence that reflects the crime.Put them away for a few years, that'll teach 'em. Of course it would if the country had enough spaces in the prisons. These cretins get away with it because there's no money to build more prisons, that's a budget that has long been plundered. So therefore they walk because there is nowhere to put them. This is why,you never hear the result of a crime like this, and the cops dont pursue any action. When the 'bang em up brigade' get this through their skulls, maybe there will be a lot less of wasted space posts.

The stupidest thing is I bet they were only a hundred metres or so from one of the Polic e boxes which are at virtually every junction in Thailand.................never seen anything like the amount of boxes as here. Caveat Emptor
Why doesn't the BIB have a publicity campaign to tell the public that before going to a cop shop to make a complaint they must have all available evidence ready for presentation as a simple ' I want to report a ... ' isn't acceptable ?
