National parks in 6 southern provinces collect revenue of over 1.2 bn bt from entrance fee

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 14 November 2016, (NNT) - National Parks from six southern provinces highly profitable this year, with revenues over 1.2 billion baht scheduled to fund community development, says a DNP official.

Protected Areas Regional Office 5 Director Jirasak Chookhwamdee disclosed that the Protected Areas Regional Office 5 are responsible for 13 marine national parks in six provinces including Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, Satun and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The top three most profitable marine national parks include Noppharat Thara Beach and Phi Phi Islands, Phang Nga bay and Similan islands. The revenues from the 13 marine parks amount to 1,239 million baht, he said.

He went on to say that the collected revenue will be used for the development of the local areas and the marine national parks, assuring the process is transparent.

This might sound like a funny comment but it was likely double that

We all love those pristine untouched National parks like PhiPhi Island :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::clap2:

Thank you Chinese tourists, we will spend it well at the Mercedes dealer. :whistling:

The collected revenue will be used for the development of the local area.  :cheesy:

Should have read !! will be used for development of mansions/ mercs/ mia nois.!!

Would be nice to see some of this money actually used to clean up the plastic bags and dog feces from the beaches.

Indeed, our racist entrance fee policies are a success :welcomeani:

It is quite revealing how often these officials feel the need to include "the process is transparent" in their statements.    I wonder why?

need to charge foreigners 40 times the local price. can double the income.

Nice .... one information is missing: How much has been invested back from this money to develop the same national parks. I love national parks, however, their states make me sad sometimes

I wonder how much was the take of the fee collectors?  Probably double or triple that number.

Thailand is such a grubby little place it hardly merits attention. :coffee1:

lol at this whole thread...

i particularly  like  the  sam  roi  yot  visitor  centre  with its board walk thru the mangroves complete  with many broken  missing slats its  like a 1  kilometer death trap......truly disgusting
