Minister hopeful that US will upgrade Thailand’s IPR status

BANGKOK: -- THAILAND’S status is expected to be upgraded in Washington’s intellectual-property-rights protection rankings next year, even though US president-elect Donald Trump has indicated he will pursue a stringent IPR policy when in office.

 

Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said last week that Thailand expected to be upgraded from the US Priority Watch List (PWL) to the Watch List (WL) next year, due to its efforts to protect intellectual property rights. 


The government has also made strong efforts to raise IPR awareness and enforce many related laws, she said.

Does that mean our government school will be able to allow updates on its 100 or so Windows OS without the screens turning black?

Our students think "This is not a genuine copy" is the actual trademark and a coloured screen is a virus

Which part of the sentence is it the Commerce Minister has problems to understand? I doubt he understand the Trump campaign slogan- but maybe his translation reads:

Make Thailand great again by flooding the world with more faked products.

Most of the IPR supporters in the USA were anti-Trump and remain so. Thailand isn't so out of order with its balance of payments with the USA. Not much is going to change for Thailand.
