Cancel or change visa?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I have two separate questions:

1. How to cancel a non-immigrant B Visa?

Do I have to cancel the work permit first?

Do I have to cancel the visa at the immigration office?

Or can I just live the country (by ground) and it will be cancelled automatically?

2. If I’m changing job and employer, do I have to cancel my visa and work permit or can I just make the change at the immigration office?

Thank you to share your knowledge and your experiences with me.

1. A visa cannot be canceled.

Only an extension of stay issued by immigration needs to be canceled. You would cancel the extension by going to immigration with a letter stating your last day of work. If you went to immigration a few days before that date they would postdate the cancellation to that date.

Leaving the country will end your extension but some border crossings will not allow you to leave without the letter from your employer.

2. If your new employer was to apply for a work permit for you and get a application approval letter it is possible to have your current extension cancelled and then applying for a new one with supporting documents and the work permit application approval letter.
