A British couple were shocked when they got a little more than they bargained for at breakfast time in Cambodia.

The pair ordered a raw salad but were baffled when they lifted the lid of their dish to find live shrimp jumping out at them. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The man who caught the clip on camera zoomed in on the shrimp in disbelief, showing the animals squirming and jumping around the table.

He wrote about his experience online: 'I decided to play it safe with the pork and fried rice. Stef, however, went for the raw shrimp salad.'

'I just thought they would be uncooked but they were actually raw and once the lid was off, they started jumping around the table!' he added.

They call it yum goong den (ยํากุ้งเต้น)  in thailand. Can't believe this is international news. Had I known a few yrs ago when I tried it I might have been a superstar.

I believe a raw seafood salad comes with (1) Hepatitis  (2) Typhoid (3) different kinds of virus or bacteria that can upset your stomach for years .

I have seen farmers using raw sewage (from toilet) to fertilize the vegetables, the very vegetables use in salad. You should go to the village to see this and it will stay in your mind's eye and for a long long time you will never touch any salad even in 5 star's hotels in Thailand.

No, they say it's hydrophonic farming, they grow them in little boxes without chemicals, well, I am not sure the supplier is honest to the shop that makes the salad. As long as it is salad it is out.

Eating raw fish (freshwater) in Isaan is what makes it a "hotspot" for liver cancer.

 

Thailand as a whole rated 7th highest (2012) in the world.

I have seen girls in Pattaya eat a dish where small prawns/shrimps (goong) jump around and even out of the bowl.....the food cart that sells the dish even has a fish tank to transport the tiny prawns/shrimps around....funnily enough they called the dish "Coyotees"...because they said the prawns/shrimps we dancing when the dish is served.

Well you can't get much fresher than alive and jumping!  Seen them plenty of times but never tried them.  Nor the live beetles that they used to sell in a local market in Chiang Mai.  I did ask how they cooked them and the stall holder picked one up and popped it in his mouth happily crunching away. I politely refused the ones he offered me to try!
