Birth And Registration Of Kid (child)

Featured Replies

Tried searching but 'kid' is too short. And 'child' didn't seem to dig up any of the old threads. So here goes:

- What are the rules (needed papaerwork) to arrange Before going into hospital to give birth, During and Afterwards?

Assuming one parent is farang.

Just bring your passport, wife ID and house registration book to the hospital administration office, they will certify the place of birth with a letter, thereafter register and apply your child birth certificate at the district office where you reside.

This is how I done it for my children and the procedure it quite easy for you to handle.

Congratulation and good luck for your family new member arrival!

To obtain Thai citizenship for your children, either you or your wife must be a Thai.

For non Thai citizens, its better you check with Thai relevant authorities concerning your child birth status. This topic may have been covers somewhere here. Good luck.

i understand, maybe i put it across wrongly. what i meant was, if my wife happen to deliver in thailand, what must i prepare for the hospital's administration ? they gotta give me a birth cert even if we arent thai citizens right ? LOL :o

Thank you so much.

Asked a nurse yesterday (c-section due for monday) and she said they also wanted to see a translated copy of my passport. Not sure why this would be needed, but if it's the name they want translated I have a marrige cert. they surely could use...?

Congratulations TAWP, by the way.

To answer my own question quicly: We called the hospital, they accepted marrige cert. as a document showing my name translated. Most likely their request to avoid long arguments about how a farang-name is spelled.

Dantilley>> Thank you. :o
