The week that was in Thailand news: Are these the winds of change? – maybe just a gentle breeze

Despite loving the nation to bits I have never been under any serious misapprehensions about Thailand’s murky underbelly. Ok, so while Rooster occasionally struts out in his rose tinted bifocals, it is really just an antidote to getting overwhelmed by the nasty goings on one sees in the news, especially here on Thaivisa.

Top cops under investigation for not closing gambling house

BANGKOK:-- Five top officers at Bangkok’s Lat Krabang Police Station were transferred following Friday’s bust of a gambling den in Soi Lat Krabang 2 by the Army that led to the arrest of 96 punters – 72 Thais, 21 Cambodians and three Vietnamese – and the seizure of Bt121,000, said city police chief Lt-General Sanit Mahathaworn on Saturday.

7 police officers charged over man’s death in gambling den

IFC study finds climate pact helped open up $23 trillion in emerging-market opportunities
