BANGKOK: -- Over 90 percent of respondents in a poll agree with life imprisonment for people who buy or sell positions in government services and more than half of them support police reforms, according to results of the Super Poll research office.

The poll was conducted during October 15-19 among 440 samples who are police officers attached to police stations. They were asked about, among others, how they feel about police reforms and about a recent proposal that people who buy or sell official positions should face the maximum penalty of death instead of life imprisonment.

The poll shows only 3.3 percent of the respondents agree with death penalty for those who buy or sell official positions and 96.7 percent prefer life imprisonment as the maximum penalty.

30.9 percent say it is not yet time for police reforms while 69.1 percent want the police organization to be reformed.

Asking the police about crime , punishment and reforms? You have to admire their sense of humour

In another survey 100% of foxes said they should not be forced to turn vegetarian

The culture is to buy and cheat your way to the top, with no one being promoted on merit, resulting in the country being led by the dumbest and most corrupt.

Unfortunately, without this system Thai Visa would be a pretty boring place. Where else would we find a continuous supply of stories of people competing to "out dumb"  each other

However; I do find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with the RTP and think that being parceled off to meet the maker is a bit drastic for doing something that is second nature. - Cue  "Red Bull Heir" discussion

Now there's a representative sample of Thai society - NOT !!!

Next ... a survey of inmates of high security prisons about whether there should be a death penalty for homicide.

cops buy their promotions, doubt they would want to see any laws that give the death penalty to people buying their positions. have to wonder if the 3.3% that said yes were drunk or suicidal.

Like every good statistic it's probably made up.

Is'nt the inactive post the ultimate punishment!?....doesn't get any harsher than that!

They take your stack of official brown envelopes away. Kind of give them a naked feeling. Humiliation=punishment. Its a save face culture. Loosing face can mean the same as 30 lashes.
