The Memo: Trump base shows signs of cracking

"President Trump’s previously resilient base is showing signs of cracking."

"A new Reuters/IPSOS tracking poll, released Friday afternoon, showed the president with a job approval rating of 75 percent among Republicans."

"Political professionals generally view it as worrying for any commander-in-chief if his approval ratings with his own party dip below 85 percent — and downright alarming if they go below 80 percent."

I can understand the democrats taking this as slow as possible. They want to give Trump plenty of time to demolish the Republican Party, so that in 2018 they have a chance to retake both Senate and House. At that point they push for impeachment and make sure Pence will be disqualified as well. Then it'll be either the dem house speaker (Pelosi?) stepping up to be president, or they'll force a new presidential election.

Ha ha ha. Dream on.

Dems have been in a long slow slide to oblivion.

Tax cuts and firing government staff in Washington will fire up the GOP groups.

Roger Stone: Trump's Saudi award 'makes me want to puke'

"As President Donald Trump celebrated what he called a "tremendous" first day in Saudi Arabia, his onetime campaign adviser and longtime confidante Roger Stone expressed nothing but aversion for the Gulf nation and parts of the President's trip."

"In a litany of tweets, Stone berated Saudi Arabia as "the enemy" and slammed Trump for accepting the Order of Abdulaziz from King Salman bin Abdulaziz."

Not really.  HRC got nearly 3 million more votes in Nov. than Trump. You like drastic tax cuts for the very rich?!  That says something about your priorities.  I may enjoy 8 years of Trump purely for the entertainment value.  It's rather fun to watch him shoot himself in one foot, while sticking the other in his mouth - each day.

Yet, each week Trump is in the Oval Office, is another week he has to further debilitate the USA.  For that reason, it's good he's so distracted with fending off legal issues, and can't get much done with furthering his harmful-to-America agenda.

As for the Dem party losing popularity.  There may be some truth to that.  Already 3 Democrat congresspeople have joined a new party which is more liberal than mainstream Democratic party.  It's called JUSTICE DEMOCRATS. Keep an eye out for more defections.

I think Americans, in general, are moving further left politically.  Much of that is fueled by proofs of how miserable the right-wingers are manifesting in Wash. DC.  It will be interesting if Bernie Sanders joins the Justice Democrats, because the JD's embody all the points he campaigned on.

The JD's have recently raised money, more quickly and from more individual donors than any other political group.  More than the Reps, Dems or Tea Party in any similar time frame.

Pardonne moi, but I've got to smirk when I see one of Trump's Dirty Tricksters ready to puke at Trump.  When the sand castle of Trump's support starts to dissolve, it will do so quicker than Stone can pull his forked tongue back into his mouth.

White House officials say Trump is 'undisciplined' and 'self-destructive'

President Trump is abroad on his first foreign trip, but that hasn't stopped his problems from piling up at home. And despite administration officials' public attempts at pivoting the focus to the national security risks of leaking information to the public, staffers are privately "exasperated" by Trump, according to Axios' Jonathan Swan and Mike Allen.

‘He’s been neutered’: Trump supporters melt down after president calls Islam ‘one of world’s great faiths’

As President Donald Trump is getting hammered on the left for not using the expression “radical Islamic terrorism” during his speech in Saudi Arabia, he is also taking heat from his avid supporters who were drawn to him due to his anti-Mulsim rhetoric when he is in the U.S.

His crime?

Calling Islam “one of the world’s great faiths.”

"In his Riyadh address, Trump decided to use a substitute phrase: “Islamist extremism.” But he slightly veered off the prepared excerpts released earlier by the White House, saying “Islamic” instead of “Islamist” on several occasions."

" CNN’s Jim Acosta said on Twitter that the White House admits that Trump misspoke (Trump summoned Muslim nations to confront ‘Islamic terror of all kinds’)  , but blamed the error on a lack of rest, saying that the president is “exhausted” after only two days of travel."

" Common people in the West will start to bundle all Muslims with Islamists, picking a potentially losing battle with one quarter of humanity. This clash of civilizations is what Al Qaeda wanted to trigger with the attacks on September 11."

Will be interesting to observe Trump's supporters reaction, including his supporters on this forum who invest heavily in demonising Islam. With the hundreds of billions to be invested by Saudi Arabia, won't it be wonderful to see the Rust Belt unemployed working to make profits for Saudi investors! Trump has totally condemned Iran for supporting Assad, not one word on Russian support for Iran and Assad.

Trump's U Turn is breathtaking. However, if he truly stands behind his words a step in the right direction, although one has to question the unrestrained support for Sunni Islam with no mention of the massive corruption which is one of the core drivers for Islamist radicalisation.

Trump describes a country that could well be Saudi Arabia  and concludes with..  "I speak of course of Iran",

Excerpt from the transcript: " But no discussion of stamping out this threat would be complete without mentioning the government that gives terrorists all three—safe harbor, financial backing, and the social standing needed for recruitment. It is a regime that is responsible for so much instability in the region. I am speaking of course of Iran."

On the video - in the qhared link-  , by 32.20 - the guy in the audience falls asleep ..while  Trump finally describes the radiant future :  " The birthplace of civilization is waiting to begin a new renaissance. Just imagine what tomorrow could bring. Glorious wonders of science, art, medicine and commerce to inspire humankind" ..

Sad --- the Obama Administration was "fat" and a drain on the economy (i.e. "the un-Affordable Health Care Act"). Democrats are jealous to President Trumps successes and looking to find/make-up failures. The Obama Administration had numerous failures but for the sake of America we put-up with his arrogance and failures.

Trump is about to break another of his promises bigly:

President Trump’s first major budget proposal on Tuesday will include massive cuts to Medicaid and call for changes to anti-poverty programs that would give states new power to limit a range of benefits, people familiar with the planning said, despite growing unease in Congress about cutting the safety net.

For Medicaid, the state-federal program that provides health care to low-income Americans, Trump’s budget plan would follow through on a bill passed by House Republicans to cut more than $800 billion over 10 years. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that this could cut off Medicaid benefits for about 10 million people over the next decade.

And what exactly do you mean by "successes"? LOL So far, not hard to find failures.

Obama accomplished a lot, but was stopped from doing more by the Republican led Congress. Politics at it's worst.

Obama was hardly arrogant. Especially when compared to Trump!

Obama wasn't perfect. The ACA was a blessing for many.

As for  HUD, are you referring to this? If so,  you might want better sources for your news.

Trump's latest renovation to Washington D.C. He's putting in a cesspool to replace the swamp.

White House Moves to Block Ethics Inquiry Into Ex-Lobbyists on Payroll

The Trump administration, in a significant escalation of its clash with the government’s top ethics watchdog, has moved to block an effort to disclose the names of former lobbyists who have been granted waivers to work in the White House or federal agencies.

Dozens of former lobbyists and industry lawyers are working in the Trump administration, which has hired them at a much higher rate than the previous administration. Keeping the waivers confidential would make it impossible to know whether any such officials are violating federal ethics rules or have been given a pass to ignore them.

Finally we can see that Anti-Trump media tell us the same thing again and again - "Trump is a bad guy but we cannot show you the proof because it is too secret to show it to the public."
They will not stop saying it because it is working fine so far.

Anti Trump media? Seriously? Even fellow Republicans are getting tired of his BS. He has only himself to blame for the bad press.

Republicans voice opposition to Trump's budget: 'Dead on arrival'

"Donald Trump’s proposal to reduce spending by $3.6tn, mostly by slashing antipoverty programs that provide social safety nets for the poor, ran into bipartisan opposition on Capitol Hill, where a number of Republican lawmakers rejected the cuts as “draconian” and “nonstarters”.

"The president’s plan recommends $616bn in cuts to Medicaid, the government insurance programme for the poorest and many disabled Americans, while increasing border security spending by $2.6bn – including $1.6bn to begin construction on a wall along the US-Mexico border."

"While fiscal conservatives welcomed the proposal, which aims to balance the budget by 2027, Republicans raised concerns that the plan would slice too deeply into programs that provide poor Americans access to healthcare, food stamps and student loans, setting the stage for a showdown over budget priorities."

My mind is even totally boggled as to how fiscal conservatives can 'welcome' these plans, I guess even more so as to why Americans would vote such politicians in to office.

There are enough articles and studies out there now showing that Trumps plan would be a disaster for tens of millions of Americans.

Maybe the real plan with the wall is actually to keep all the future poverty stricken Americans in the country to ensure they don't go looking for jobs in Mexico.

President Trump’s ‘balanced’ budget relies on $2,062,000,000,000 in mystery money

"White House officials are boasting that President Trump's budget would balance federal finances in 10 years."

"Yet despite extreme reductions in spending on health care for the poor, food stamps, education, science and other basic government programs, Trump's staff could only balance the budget by claiming vague savings and unspecified sources of new revenue — in other words, with trillions of dollars in mystery money."

"It is not just that Trump is counting on a rapid acceleration in economic growth that economists believe is unlikely, which the budget projects will yield $2.1 trillion in new revenue ($2,062,000,000,000, to be more exact)."
