Driving Licence

I want to buy a scooter in Bangkok but I'm unsure about the driving licence situation. I have a work visa, I also have an international driving licence, is that enough or do I need to apply for a local driving licence? If I need to apply for a local one, where do I go and any idea of the process: time, price etc.

Thanks so much in advance for any help!

High season today for DL questions

For a start you can read the pinned topic.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/920562-thai-drivers-license-checklist/

The IDP (international driving permit) is good for a start (is it 3 or 6 months?).

If you want to stay on a long term basis you need to get a Thai DL which is pretty easy with having an IDP.

Which country are you (the IDP) from?

Bangkok has five DLT offices.

DLT being the English abbr. for Departement of Land Transport.

How to find the locations of the Bangkok offices is described here:

See post #5 for finding locations.
