In a heartbreaking incident in Pathum Thani, a 67-year-old woman was fatally attacked by a Pit Bull while cycling near her home in Chiang Rak Noi, Sam Khok District. The woman, identified as Daeng Thamtanta, was found with severe bite wounds over most of her body. Despite efforts by emergency responders to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Police and rescue teams responded to the incident at 16:30, following a report from the Sam Khok Police Station. The aggressive dog, named Poikae, reportedly belonged to a nearby resident, Mrs. Kiatkanok Taenla, who kept it with six other dogs. 
 

Witnesses said they heard the attack and rushed to help. Mrs. Pratheuang Nakpradit, a 76-year-old neighbour , described hearing the sound of dogs fighting and rushed to find Daeng being mauled. Despite attempts to call off the dog, the situation turned tragic.

 

 

Mrs. Kiatkanok, the dog's owner, admitted that this was not the first incident involving Poikae, as the Pit Bull had recently bitten other family members, including her 17-year-old daughter. Mrs. Kiatkanok expressed her distress, stating that she could no longer manage the aggressive dog and wished to hand it over to an animal protection group.

 

Local residents reported that Poikae had attacked several others before, raising concerns about the safety of the neighbourhood.

 

Authorities are investigating the incident, and the body of the deceased has been sent to the Forensic Science Institute.

So it took someone's death before the owner decided to do anything with what was obviously a dangerous dog.

 

Owner should be charged with manslaughter and jailed for a suitable period as a warning to other idiotic owners of this breed.

Criminalize owning this type of bread.

Again we have a killing machine in the form of a pit bull. A dog breed know for it´s aggressive behavior and unpredictable mindset. Originally made popular because it´s abilities as a fighting dog. In Thailand they let regular Somchai handle these dogs, and after many attacks and deaths not do anything to make them illegal as well as clean the country of the race. The dog should be put down like the evil breed it is, and all the other aggressive dogs as well.

 

Now all dog lovers can refrain from posting their utter nonsense in reply to this post. Don´t come with good and bad owners. Obviously this is a bad owner. However, it doesn´t matter with these breeds. To make such conversation, a dog lover must first explain why over 95% of all dog attacks and deaths as well as severe injuries made by dogs are related to fighting dogs and over aggressive breeds. Pit bulls are standing for most of the attacks and deaths. Does that all the bad owners of dogs have a pit bull? As you all understand, that is not possible.

Just eradicate the evil breeds from the planet.

But they are so cute and lovely!

They don't kill many people,  out of 8 billion, only a tiny percentage is killed by pitbulls.

They only kill the old and weak, this old lady certainly had some preexisting condition,  otherwise she would have just run away. And why does she live in a pitbullish neighborhood, anyway?

 

If you have a good defense, you are safe.

 

BTW I am moving to Sam Khok next week.  Anybody knows where to buy a second hand Abrams for my defense?

Yes, we always get this lie, Pit Bulls XL Bullies and other muscle bound killing machines are bad breeds, thats why they are banned in some countries. They are not safe to be kept as pets, any more than a Lion or a crocodile is.

When pitbulls become soi dogs it's game over for cyclists and walkers

it is difficult to exercise one pet dog in Thailand  due to attacks from other dogs. 

Why anyone should keep six dogs confined on their property shows a lack of care for the dogs and disreguard for neibours. 

This dog should be destroyed.

The owner heavily fined and ordered to pay compensation  and banned from owning other dogs. 

As an unfit owner and she should also have the other dogs removed from her care.

These breeds are born with the attack ability in their very nature and generally shows up as a puppy when they are Chewing on wooden furniture etc. If they can't or won't be trained out of this practice then it should be taken a Human preservation organisation and put down. The owners are responsible for this event and "Sorry" doesn't come close to covering this preventable death.

on khlong sam. if you go near the temple side keep going on your left just past the temple there is a 2nd hand store right beside the road.

Why do I only hear of this in Thailand?  This is strange.  So you can go to Thailand, get a dog and train it to kill.  Then have it attack someone you don't like. It kills them, and all that happens is you are sorry and cannot handle the dog.  Wow.

!00% agree that she should be jailed for manslaughter. For a long period. Not only for a warning to others but for the deed itself.

That's what I'm afraid of sometimes when on my bike alone in a village🥴

The time to ban and cull this breed of dog worldwide is now.How many more times has this to happen before the authorities realise these dogs can turn killer anytime?

The Thai way, by giving it away in Her mind She is absolved of any responsibility. Sloping shoulder syndrome so common here. What always amazes me too is the fact that the people in the neighbourhood know about this problem, yet do nothing about it. Again, the way here of not creating a fuss in case of someone losing face.

How many more people, maybe young children, have to die before the Government does something, (rhetorical question, they will not do anything).

Pitbulls were specifically bred for fighting over the years.

No mention of arresting the owner.

I tend to disagree.

Soi dogs have their own hierarchy and are not caged and mistreated. They can expend the energy that every dog needs to.

Soi dogs are easy to deal with, by walkers, joggers and cyclists... it can't just be me or my area where this is no problem if you show the right body language. A pitbull is just another dog, and would behave so in a gang of soi dogs. I hope!

 

As for this sad incident, even as a dog lover and defender, this one needs to be destroyed. The 'owner' needs to be charged with manslaughter and her whole family banned from having dogs in the future.
