PHUKET: -- A motorcyclist and his passenger were hospitalised last night (Nov 22) when a bus lost control and veered into the opposite lane causing the driver of the bike to crash. The incident occurred in front of the Sea Pearl Resort on Patong Hill.

Patong Police were notified of an accident on Phra Baramee Rd at 10:23pm yesterday where it was reported that a bus carrying 19 tourists had crashed in front of the Sea Pearl Resort. Police were told that two people on a motorbike had been injured in the incident.

Police led by Maj Teerasak Boonsang arrived at the scene with Kusoldharm rescue workers to find a tour bus that had come to rest on a retaining wall in front of the resort.

The two injured motorists were still at the scene when police arrived, they were named as 33-year-old Nattachai Chanmala and his passenger 22-year-old Ms Ratchanok Masjula.

I thought they were going to "ramp up". Oh well, ho hum, another project failed after two days.

Didn't have a news item a few days ago saying all busses would be inspected prior to negotiating the hill?

Obviously only during business hours.

Has any investigation ever included a test for brake failure, as that seems to be the #1 excuse given by these bus drivers?

More like they should test for brake fade. But I doubt there is really any test made.

Not too sure about how one can test if brakes are going to fail in the future. Worn pads, ok, but there are a multitude of reasons for brake failure for which there is no way to detect. (mechanical engineer with 25 years experience)

All buses today are equipped with a  dual-circuit braking system. The brake failure then can only happen with worn out brake pads. And there is no excuse for that.

Yes. But being Thailand, they are inspecting the brakes on vehicles heading up the hill.

Thais think that when they touch the brake in an emergency the vehicle will stop instantly like in cartoons ,when this doesn't happen they blame brake failure,I call it brain failure .land of stupid

When can we expect to read the head lines  " No bus accidents today  "   :cheesy:

:sorry: I was dreaming
