Life sentence considered for those caught selling Cabinet seats

BANGKOK: -- Though the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) has not removed capital punishment for party executives found guilty of selling positions in a new organic draft law, it is considering adding the option of life imprisonment.

People have voiced concern that the death penalty is too severe for the violation of certain provisions stipulated in organic laws, especially for politicians who offer Cabinet seats for sale. The drafters have been asked to reconsider these clauses.

Mega corruptions are much more severe than selling a political seat,

and as long as the former is widely practiced with impunity, the latter should

take a second priority.....

Life imprisonment for ' selling ' positions but what about those who appoint people because they are family, friends, cronies and have no obvious qualifications etc for the posts ?

I will qualify this by saying the PM did once say such appointments were understandable because it was natural to appoint people that could be trusted.

It seems ability, suitability and qualifications aren't a prerequisite.

Life imprisonment for selling positions :cheesy:

Must be some kind of joke, it has been going on for years.

Yet what about giving positions  to brothers, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles and all other family members?

As NKK said no taking into account of ability, suitability, or qualifications.

Many positions here, private or public, are given based on some sort of payment or relationship.

I presume this will not cover appointments to the Senate, independent organizations etc by the NCPO.

If this was really to be implemented, they would need a correctional facility the size of Phuket!

Life sentence considered for those caught selling Cabinet seats.......

But those caught doing corruption will be moved to an inactive post or suspended 'til we can make up a good alibi.

What about selling Cabinet desks?

How about BARTERING ?

CAN A FARANG get 1 ? my friend also is intelisted:stoner:

Phuket IS a correctional facility!

aptitude, suitability and qualifications, along with desire to take the responsibility, for a post should be the major consideration, and of course whether the candidate will fit in the team.
Any other appointing system will lead to inefficiency and many other undesirable side effects.

Will it also be life sentence for those buying Cabinet seats?

Note to Pheu Thai lackeys:

Better start shitting yourselves. :hit-the-fan:

will this be run as a standard crackdown? any up date on the list of hundreds of officials suspected as being corrupt?  or has that particular crackdown finished?

Why not bring your own folda chair???

If you could find a potential politician with ability, suitability and qualifications then these attributes might be worth considering -- but that seems like a long stretch of imagination.

Must be some pretty sweet chairs, what are they made from...gold, platinum, unicorn hair...

Cabinet seats being sold? What would we be hearing next? Doctorates being sold?

Well that should weed out all the wanna be young hopeful future politicians who wish to run in the next election. As long as your a member of the party making the rules of the game you should be OK. You also have your selected "uncles" in the senate as well who will run interference for you. Yes should prove to be an honest and fair election. The Return of Democracy Part 2

Let's  start a list for the hub, I'll start with:

Road deaths

Rice scams

Face saving

Coups

although i am against capital punishments but if the justice system should want this punishment to be meted out, then it should be for murderers and rapist in the most severe cases.

Sounds like hot air, sheer talk.
