November 23, 20169 yr SCB expects sizable growth in domestic tourism this year BANGKOK, 23 November 2016 (NNT) - The SCB Economic Intelligence Center has unveiled its latest study, suggesting that the country’s tourism industry will see a sizable growth in 2016. The center on Tuesday released a report on Thailand’s tourism industry, saying an impressive growth can be expected at the end of 2016. Despite several unfavorable situations that have affected Thailand’s tourism in recent years, the number of overseas arrivals still rises over 10% each year. The center said the tourism growth so far has benefited employment and investment in Thailand and it is expected that there will be over 33 million foreigners coming to Thailand by the end of this year. It added that such a large number of overseas arrivals means a higher tourist revenue of around two trillion baht, representing about 11% of gross domestic product. -- nnt 2016-11-23
November 23, 20169 yr Why does the headline state domestic tourism and the article refers to foreign tourists? And where's the growth at the end of 2016? I haven't seen it in Phuket, where numbers seem well down, and that includes the Chinese. More Russians this year, though.
