Getting a marriage visa

Featured Replies

My question is this , I'm 33, medically retired from the US. I get Social Security SSDI , so I'm not going to work again. My question is this I've been with my girlfriend for 2 years , we would like to get married but I make under the 40,000 Baht requirement per month. I make 30,000. What should I do. Once we get married her parents are going to give us their house.

Income is not the only option to get an extension of stay based upon marriage. You can also have 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months to apply.

If you cannot meet the financial requirements you could get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Savannakhet Laos with no financial proof needed.

You do not need to prove any income to get married.

  • Deposit 400K in a bank account for 2 months you can get a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage.
  • Get a Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visa from Savannakhet, Laos. It costs 5,000 baht. You will need to exit/re-enter every 90 days. Each 90 day entry can be extended by 60 days at immigration for 1,900 baht. With a final entry just before the visa expires, and a 60 day extension, you can get almost 17 months from this visa.

Yeah I don't have 400,000 baht. I get a fixed amount every month from the US government. That's it

Why he should not be able to survive?

He have 30'000 and not need to pay for rent. So I can't see a problem with the money. And I think there a probably a lot of foreigner with about same amount of money (Teachers) which even have to pay for a condo.

But of course you can't spend all nights in bars with this kind of money.. but I not read anything about what he want to do in Thailand.. Except that he want to spend time with his (maybe) future wife.....

The Visa thing is more difficult....

Minus the fact that I've been doing it for 2 years. Seems like I've survived pretty damn well supporting two people and helping her family
