When will the police here learn that it's best to keep your mouth shut until you are certain what the heck is going on first? This guy is suddenly an engineer and can make a valid conclusion based on what experience or evidence? It seems that they like to act like big shots when a camera is in their face and can't resist trying to sound like an expert whose job it is to share their great knowledge with the "dimwitted public". Just say "it's a tragedy, and we are working hard to determine the cause and we will keep you posted" and then go do your job. RIP to the workers, who will unfortunately be quickly forgotten (and, most likely blamed, as el Capitano has already laid the groundwork) Let me slightly re-arrange your post for some, seeing as you have made incorrect observations yourself; When will the police posters here learn that it's best to keep your mouth shut until you are certain what the heck is going on first? This guy is many posters are suddenly an engineer and can make a valid conclusion based on what experience or evidence? It seems that they like to act like big shots when a camera is in their face posting on TV forum and can't resist trying to sound like an expert whose job it is to share their great knowledge with the "dimwitted public" If you read/understood the full article the cop had been asked what he thought about the comment by some secretary or other who in fact made these comments [ that the crane "appeared" to have been improperly assembled] and was simply saying that " if " it was true, then yes, the workers were responsible...nothing more, nothing less. If the guys assembling it had made errors then yes, in all likelyhood they were responsible. The assembly/dis assembly/reassembly of these types of crane need to be precise and in a certain sequence, and it is usual to have workers who understand this, even here in LOS. However, he "stressed " that police have yet to ascertain the cause of the accident. As an aside, all you Thai bashers should realise that similar incidents happen quite regularly in all parts of the world, mostly just because of the unusual nature of these cranes. The majority of these incidents are caused by human error one way or other. Edited November 30, 2016 by happyas

In the photo, they are just excavating to expose the piles. So, what was supporting that crane? Looks like all we can see is the top of the crane and the rest is right of the first photo, and left of the second, but yes something really looks fishy here. 10 hours ago, crankshaft said: Headline from the article..." DEAD WORKERS PROBABLY AT FAULT FOR FATAL CRANE FAILURE, COP SAYS" Easy case to solve... I'm sure there was no pressure on these guys to get that rig set up. Oh well toss em on the burn pile and get some more.
