Hey all,

 

sorry if if this is a broken record post.

 

 

Been offered a 6mnt-1year contract in Pattaya.

 

i like a drink and a party so know about the touristy stuff along beach road and walking street through weekend visits.

 

Can anybody give me some idea of decent bars/restaurants and other interesting stuff to do, away from the seedy stuff? 

 

Any chance of actually meeting any decent women anywhere, play sports, socialise etc?

Where do you work? Check out from there where to live etc, traffic can get nasty in Pattaya too nowadays.

Other than that, plenty of places outside the red light district.

No, though there are lots of decent women in Pattaya.

There are a lot of half Thai girls/women who live here and are pretty decent.

 

Depends how old are you though, if you are on your late 30's - early 40's your chances with them are not very high but if you're in your 20's or early 30's and take care of yourself you have chances to meet them, though you don't have the Farang high ground with them because they're already half Farang so you need to work little bit more harder to acquire them than the typical Thai girl.

 

Same goes for the middle class Thai girls who are living here or in Sri Racha and they're coming to Pattaya often to party/shop but with them it's kind of easier because you have the Farang highground  

 

I don't have any Farang highground though, I'm half Thai so I'm talking only by assumptions for the middle class Thai girls and by experience for the half Thai girls

ive met lots of decent hard working girls, not in pattaya but on the internet and had long term relationships with them.

i have been in patts 9 years and it is a great place. PM me if you want some info. i have a kiteboarding windsurfing club and the wind season is just starting. loads to do in pattaya.

There is a great Irish bar on Soi 13/4 where the intellectuals congregate for stimulating chat, no hookers, been there for ever, only downside is some a*s*hole sits and plays a banjo now and then, but a punch in the ear generally produces the desired result ! Lots of fishing parks, air is MUCH better than in the big city, and loads of inexpensive but excellent restaurants everywhere. William George is right, it still is a great place !

Been calling Pattaya home for 14+ years and sort of lost its shine over the years....of course my luster is a bit dull as well so goes hand in hand.....finding a good girl might be akin to finding a boatload of Jews in Rome.....???

It is still a good place to live, then are many pluses to Pattaya. I'm in a long-term relationship so don't go to bars or go-go clubs. We have our favorite little restaurants we frequent and go there for dinner and I have several beers. We go to movies weekly at Central Festival. I have farang mates I catch up with every week on the Pattaya Hash House Harriers. There's so much more to do if required: golf, windsurfing, quiz nights.

 

As for decent women. yes there are lots of nice gals in Pattaya. Obviously you're not going to meet them in Soi 6 or along the Beach Road late at night, but you can chat up and date gals that work in shops and restaurants. I'd avoid dating gals from work if I were you. That's always a risky thing to get into.

Everything that you want can be found in Pattaya,it may take a little time with some things but its all here......believe me

I'll be working near Lam Chabang so probably looking at a place around East Pattaya, not sure what the commute time is like in the mornings/evening? I'll probably be coming for a trial run in the next week or two and to do some scouting for properties and so on.

 

I'm not an ageist but what age group are you gentleman?

Between 50 and 100 yrs of age, that may be a downside but you will meet lots young tourist you can chat with but not many regulars in your age group

Enjoy your life No1; don't get caught in the crap of Pattaya. Can be a beautiful place to live, with a lot of people can be friendly or just want your atm. Have a great adventure. A friend of mine said that the most he will pay for a girl is an ice cream. Not implying there young but don't spend money on em. He had a new one 5 out of 7 days each week. Again if you do your nuts and bolts over a nice girl, enjoy it. Have fun mate.

Good reads, some very contrasting views/stories! Luckily I can keep the drinking in check and I'm active so doubt I'd get sucked into being on the piss every night.

Demographics may not be an issue, I don't mind cruising back to Bangers on the bike for the odd weekend to see my chums and I generally get on with people of most ages anyway.

 

I'm sure there's other stuff going on, as long as I can get my weekly dose of 5-a-side, get to the gym, and don't end up a bit stir-crazy due to lack of more 'normal' weekday entertainments then it's all good.

You can go at least half of that and still be withing legal limits. I would aim to be mid-20's if I were you 55

If you deny that Farangs get girls easier in Asia than Arabs/Africans/other Asians well, I disagree.

 

I said it's from personal experience and conversations I had. You are welcome to prove me wrong but ...

 

...you throw some intellectual terms to make you sound intellectual. As I understood after I've read Nicholas Taleb Nassim's sayings on "Intellectual Yet Idiots", there's no point to argue with them. Just let them be.

There is a few on here that raise their supreme minds to the forum from time to time. As you said , just let them be. Interesting to hear your view aswell, esp as you are Thai/ Farrang. Cheers.
