KRABI:-- Two women involved in the illegal sale of coral on Facebook were apprehended in Ao Luek yesterday evening.

The arresting officers found more than 20 kilograms of coral in their possession. They had been dealing in coralline algae, sea pens and various other coral used in jewelry.

A joint "task force" of 30 personnel [yes, thirty] comprising Krabi Marine Police, Than Bok Khorani National Park chief and officers, Takua Thung Non-hunting Zone officials, Army officers, Department of Marine and Coastal Resources officials and Ao Luek Mangrove Development Station officials "raided" the home of the two women and were able to capture them at 5pm.

30 officers to arrest 2 women...

Guess they all smelled a photo-opportunity and some finger pointing coming up.

30 officers, to collect 20 kg of  ( dead ) coral..   660 gram of coral per officer, well, great there is so much efficiency around.
