impulse
Last year, the BKK Symphony's Concert in the Park (Lumpini) ran from mid December to mid January. It's a great way to enjoy some free music outdoors with lots of other people. I can't find any indication whether it's been postponed, cancelled or otherwise this year. http://bangkoksymphony.org/V5/Concert in the Park/concertinthepark.html Anyone have any info? impulse
FYI, no guarantees on my part, but it looks like it's on... http://bangkoksymphony.org/V5/home.html A pleasant way to spend a free evening in Bangkok. impulse
Good news. I'm there now and they're warming up for a 17:30 start. Friendly crowd as always. About a third of us are foreigners.

impulse
Last bump of the season, for the last Free Concert before the weather gets too hot. I've enjoyed each one I've attended, surrounded by lots of families (local and foreign), many doing the picnic thing. I'm pretty sure I saw some wine glasses klinking in the normally alcohol free park... Nobody seemed to be bothered.
Shaksey
Great topic. I've been to four of these so far and all were great. Highlights have been the compositions by His sadly passed away Majesty which were exquisitely composed and played and also often the opening pieces such as the William Tell which they played impeccably and will be doing again this Sunday I am happy to see. The weekend of Children's day was also very good with many Disney/Fairytale pieces played with real joy and verve. They often also have guest singers and a couple of weeks ago the Russian State Opera singers they had were stunningly good. Voices of angels is no exaggeration. Thanks-- this is the first time I've seen anything with a listing of what they're playing (in English, at least; trying to decipher the names in Thai would be a nightmare, assuming they'd be just translating the English names to Thai script). One of the nicer things Bangkok has on offer, but only for a couple of months a year when the weather is usually cool enough. Great family outing, too. http://bangkoksymphony.org/V5/Concert in the Park/concertinthepark.html
impulse
I'm going to bump this, even though they have moved the free concerts this year from Lumpini to a few hundred meters away in Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park. These Sunday evening concerts were one of the highlights of living in BKK. I hope they're just as enjoyable and easy to access by MRT as they were in Lumpini. http://bangkoksymphony.org/V5/home.html https://goo.gl/maps/MgUab79Lb2r
