BANGKOK: -- Jane Namchaisiri is the wealthiest of all the 33 new members of the National Legislative Assembly, according to the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

The NACC on Thursday declared the assets and liabilities of each of the 33 newly-appointed members of the NLA as legally required.

Jane came top on the list with his wealth worth 339 million baht, followed in the second place by Pol Lt-Gen Charnthep Saesavech with wealth worth 282.6 million baht and Admiral Luechai Ruddit with wealth worth 187.6 million baht.

Damn! These guys are good at business. Now they can apply this knowledge so Thailand can be more like Singapore or Hong Kong, etc. Can't wait to see the developments!

"......Anything but Sue!"

Any time a Thai tries to tell you that Sakdina is a part of the past and no longer exists in Thailand, simply point to the fact that each person's wealth is reported "as legally required" in conformance with the institutionalized, legislated Sakdina system of inequality where a person's wealth makes their voice in court take precedence over persons of lesser wealth.

Very wealthy militany personal . ...didn't know civil service pays hundreds of  millions to its servants . ...

If I recall correctly Kuhn Jane's family business is Asia Fiber a smaller company listed on the SET for many years. It is not surprising his family had money but would have expected more than that.

Looks like a lot more people than first thought have married well !   :whistling:

I don't dispute that Sakdina is still widespread in Thailand.  However, office holders are required by law to disclose their assets within three months of entering a higher political office.  The Anti-Corruption Commission requires the disclosure upon entering office, and leaving office, to determine if an office holder became unusually wealthy while in office.  The typical penalty for failing to file an asset disclosure is a 5-year ban from holding political office.  http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/957379-jeng-dokjik-banished-from-politics-for-5-years/

When I was young there was a popular song, "A Boy Named Sue." The kid's father had no money or property to leave him, so gave him the name so he would grow up having to fight every day and become strong, self-confident, and able to make his way in the world. This doesn't sound the same.

If only these boys could apply what appears to be remarkable business acumen for the benefit of the country.  Thailand would, like them, soon be doing remarkably well!  I hope I live to see it.
