Looking to go for 5 days early next year, had a lovely Air BnB lined up but it has been booked up on my desired dates now unfortunately and there doesn't seem to be anything else out in that direction. 

 

Somewhere within reasonable driving distance of Ao Manao would be nice, for a family of four and an older couple.

Otherwise, if up for something close by, I highly recommend Huay Yang roughly 20 minutes drive south. The best place, in my opinion, is Mumsa Beach resort which we have stayed at several times.

Middle of town is the Boutique hotel, bit over a year old and walking distance to everything. Normal rooms start at 690 baht, they also have suites on the upper floor which might suit your family better.

I can concur with Boutique hotel. Stayed there twice and its value for money. Breakfast is not too bad and incl in room price.
Walking distance to everything, as mentioned above and a real short drive to Ao Manao..

Try Pancake House. Very new rooms, close to Ao Menow and very reasonable rates.

The military hotel (sorry do not remember the name) on Ao Manao is good, with the best view of this wonderful bay. I paid about 1500 baht a night, it's a bit old but fine.
