Re: East Pattaya & Home Break Ins

Following up on the thread about East Pattaya - from

living on the Sea Side of Sukumvit I hear the bulk of the home break ins occur in East Pattaya.

There are some nice homes there , but theft really seems a major problem on that side.

Not to mention crossing the great divide (Sukumvit)

Sadly true to a degree.

When a new housing project is completed if the " gang " can not find new work, a few of them have been known to help themselves to the odd item before they head North. Alarms and a good gate seem to do the trick as they are inherently lazy and will always go for the easy target.

Where I am living, east of Sukhumvit, we do have the occasional break-in. Hardly what you would call a crime wave though and those cases that we have had have usually been with houses that are left empty for the majority of the time.

I don't believe that a good gate, or even an alarm system, can be that effective although, as a previous poster pointed out, thieves usually go for the easy option - unless they know that you have something that they specifically want.

A loud dog works quite well, as does a 'neighbourhood watch' system - even an unofficial one.

I recently put together a few items and made a burglar alarm, pir and as loud as the type you buy from shops, works the same, but instead of costing me 15000-2000bht I put it together for roughly 2500bht.

I leave it on in the evening with the thought that if anyone breaks in firstly I will get a warning and secondly the would be thief will be on his toes. I do put it on during the day when I am out, I helped my neighbour put one together and now we listen out for each other, not that we have had any problems, just thinking ahead

any members need info to make this system pm me

I don't think the burglary problem is much worse this side of the big S, one thing to remember is that there are a lot more housing estates over this side. :o

The other side of the S the houses tend to have more glass on the walls, bars on the windows, locks on the doors and gate,

Of course crime happens both sides, it is just easier for the locals living near by and as the house costs are cheaper more locals will live out that way. Therefore the likely chance of a break in is much more increased the other side of the big S

I personally think that it's mainly imported scumbags that come in from wherethefukkaburi thinking that Pattaya's streets are paved with gold that are causing most of the havoc here, not the locals.

Most of the gang members, muggers, burglars etc when caught (and reported in our very own Pattaya broadsheets :D ) normally turn out to be from some other place and have prolly run out of gf's to pimp out to pay for their gear :o

BTW, that's JIMHO :D

Makes alot of sense.

Another thing that i now do when i go out drinking, leave the tv on.

When i go to bed, switch on the motion sensor alarm and i have pepper spray next to my bed. If anyone breaks in at night, firstly the alarm would sound and hopefully the inturder would leave so hopefully i will never have to use the pepper spray. I would use the pepper spray if threatened so i could get away leaving some distance between me and the inturder. Giving me time to get to the security guards. Lets hope this never happens :D

I lived in a house on a small estate about 3km east of Sukhumvit for 3 months this year. Got broken into twice and chased some guys away more than once.
