seesip
Do Thai passport holders need a visa for 4 day tourist travel? What's the general procedure for US passport holder to get a tourist visa in Chiang Mai? I see details online for the Bangkok consulate but so far haven't found anything on CM specifics. Thanks. ubonjoe
If a Thai flies into Myanmar they get a 14 day visa exempt entry. If not they need a visa other than for a day trip across the border. The requirements for getting the visa should not be any different than applying at the embassy in Bangkok.
CMBob
If (not sure) what you're also asking is how a US citizen gets a visa to visit Myanmar, the easy way to do that is online with their eVisa program. I'm not sure where you can physically apply for one here in Chiangmai although there is a Myanmar Consulate just off of Hasadithawee (which never seems open when I walk by there....which admittedly isn't often) and my memory tells me that a couple of travel outfits on Chang Moi used to have signs in their windows for visas to Myanmar. ValleyCommando
Applied for a Myanmar visa last September at the Myanmar Consulate in Chiang Mai.Warm welcome off security guy, filled out available form on a table in Consulate garden, handed in form,passport,2 photos and money and collected next day.It was low season so very quiet, just two other people there unlike Myanmar Embassy in BKK where it's very busy with long queues and every man and women for themselves.Yes,as previously stated Thai passport holders do not require a visa for up to 14 days.New Yangon airport very impressive without any hassle whatsoever.Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

No staff were surly or unhelpful, which is a nice change where applying for visas is concerned.
jobin
I applied last year at the consulate, in CM, and met a friendly counter chap who told me that i did not need a visa for a 3 day tour of Takilek, just across from Mae Sai. So i went to Takilek, paid my US$10, in dirty old single notes, and took my tour of the casino etc. I won't be back as i found the region expensive, rubbish filled, offering poor food, and outlandishly expensive hotel rooms and NO cute, nubile ding-dong girls.
