Court sentences national sharpshooter Jakkrit’s wife and lawyer to death

Featured Replies

Let them all rot in prison: they lied from day one, tried to suggest it was all about expensive amulets arguments, then impugned his character with phoney domestic violence allegations, when all the while it was about enriching themselves through a sordid gun for hire murder. So, she's cute: but by the time she's out she'll look like her mother. Rotten.

If the gov wants credibility and equity as a governing body then the same determination should be exercised against those who would obstruct and scapegoat the Koh Tao trial, not to mention the actual perps.

a snake in sheep's clothing

How often is the death sentence actually carried out in Thailand? In the USA, the wait can be about a decade or more...also, death row is much better than general population, with more freedom and privileges...so often, convicts want death row for the comfort and safety, even given the slim chance they will be ultimately executed...

Doctor Death.

A double barrel meaning there.

Back in the 50's, Ruth Ellis was found guilty of premeditated murder, and found guilty, and sentenced to hang. The Home office received hundred's,if not thousands of letter's asking for the sentence to be overturned. She was a good looking, dime a dance girl, she was pretty and sexually promiscuous. She was also known to have paid sex with a lot of the dance hall men she was acquainted with with. She was only very young. She fell in love with a good looking, rich, Racing driver, who treated her badly and had many other women in his life.Ellis, having had enough, and in a mood of jealousy, acquired a gun, and loaded it with the intent of killing her lover. She went looking for him and found him outside a pub called the 'Magdala'North London i think. She fired the gun, dispensing all 6 bullets. One bullet missed and bounced off of a wall, hitting a bystander and taking off a finger.I am unsure if she hit her target, the other 5 times. She was tried for premeditated murder, because she had acquired the gun and loaded it with the intention of committing murder. The prosecution also claimed, that by firing all 6 bullets at the victim, there was no excuse for an 'on the spur of the moment shooting. She was taken to prison under sentence of death, where she languished for the given 'two clear sundays'awiting Mr Pierpoint.During that time, many petetions and letter's were received asking for the sentence to be commuted. There was a great outcry for lenience, which the home office rejected. Finally,Albert Pierpoint arrived at the prison where Ellis was duly hanged. Many hundreds of people attended outside the prison walls,in silent protest.Afterwards, Pierpoint said that Ellis, from their first meeting, until she was dead ,said nothing. All the years since many people have tried the home office for a posthumous recognition of a crime of passion. Her late daughter,Goergie, campaigned for years,on her mothers behalf.i am not aware if this has been granted. My point is that because Ellis was beautiful, sexy and every mans dream.

The reason i post this is because,a short time earlier a Greek woman had also been hanged in the same jail,She was oldish, plain, and had been beaten by her husband on a regular basis. She had enough, one day and stabbed him to death.

There was no plea for clemency on  her behalf,no petitions for a beaten woman, nothing in the news to indicate the public's disagreement with her execution. In fact it went unnoticed.Pity she didnt have Sophia Loren's looks.

The widow is a babe! What a shame she's been condemned to death. Beautiful on the outside but pure evil within. I'd like to try and exorcise that demon within her.

You mean just xxxx some sense into her right ?

Yep, in any way possible!

The girl can't be stupid to be a doctor.

Imagine all the schooling to become a doctor and she goes off the rails.

What a waste of potential and throwing her life away..for what? Such a sad commentary for both involved.

society seems to.have a double standard concerning on how a person looks. And it is not right.

I seem to remember the defence case rested on spousal abuse.
From the Samui Times 2013 (?):
"...at the time of the incident Panichpatikum was out on bail following his arrest in July after a disturbance at his home, during which he allegedly fired a gun into the air to frighten his wife before assaulting her. He was subsequently charged with attempted murder, assault, illegal possession of a firearm and committing violent acts. His wife claimed that he had a history of violence that he escalated since he returned from London..."

"...Now Panichpatikum’s mother in law has confessed to taking a contact out on his life. Surang Duangjinda told police “I needed to do it because he abused my daughter over the last six years”...."

"...Social Development and Human Security Minister Pavena Hongsakul who had earlier extended help to Nithiwadee over the reported domestic violence...."

"...Earlier this year Nithiwadee had suffered a miscarriage, that was reportedly due to her husband’s violence. Surang is said to have arranged the contract on her son in law's life while she was in the hospital with her daughter. ..."

"Surang said ‘I have given him so man second chances, and I had waited for him to improve himself, but he just got worse, he even abused his own children.'...”

"...She went on to say that she had done all she could to keep her daughter and her husband apart and that she could not cope with the fact that he kept hurting her and was not prepared to wait for him to kill her before she took action..."

Wow, the judge granted it.

Bail on a death sentence. Not appealing the guilty verdict, just appealing the sentence.

Can you imagine this happening on death row in america?

Amazing Thailand.

She is Thai and if she had to endure abuse she was slighted, not something a Thai would take lightly. There have been similar instances in the Western press of women killing their husbands due to abuse, they always end up in prison though, the reasoning being that they could have divorced him instead of killing him.

My friend received 10 years, was never allowed bail and initially never paid the cops off. She also never did anything. There's a bad smell in here!

By all accounts, he was a nasty piece of work, but then again, we can't believe everything we read.

That's one reason they invented divorces.  So you don't have to kill a spouse, no matter how despicable.

Without knowing the background of the story, I read the headline and thought -

:omfg: This is going to stop anyone from getting married... and all lawyers from practicing law.

We can but hope...

Is the Thai doctor still out on bail then?  With no further reports to state otherwise, I guess she still is.
