Husband Kills Wife, Kidnaps Son

Featured Replies

A man was arrested in Sihanoukville yesterday morning after allegedly killing his wife and three-year-old son before kidnapping his five-year-old son in Kampot province’s Andong Khmer commune. Kampot provincial police section chief Chak Bol said 35-year-old Oum Reaksmey was drunk when he attacked his wife, 26-year-old Mok Saray, and their young son with a gardening hoe.

“It happened early in the morning. It remains unclear what the motive is for the killing,” he said, adding that the suspect fled the scene with his son in a car and led police on a chase in Kampot. Mr. Reaksmey, who worked as a clerk in Koh Toch commune, drove to Sihanoukville with his young son and was chased by police east of O’Chheuteal Beach.

Sao Samoeun, the criminal police chief of Kampot province, said the suspect was finally caught on a beach in Sihanoukville. “We arrested the suspect in Kampong Som. We will not know yet why he killed them until he is transferred to our police,” he told Khmer Times.  In their police report, Nhet Phorn, a serious crime office chief, said Preah Sihanouk provincial police chief Choun Narin ordered his forces to find the car and driver at 11am on Monday.
