Hi All,, this is probably one for Ubonjoe.Have just purchased a new motorcycle and completed all paperwork at the shop to initiate registration.

Part of that process it is required i go to immigration office for some kind of approval or guarantee of some sort.Assume its a similar thing as needed

for getting Thai drivers licence.

My question is what are the legal  requirements for obtaining this document ie: rental agreement, photos, passport etc.etc.

I dont want to get there and find i'm sent away due to incomplete documents.

What are the actual regulations for a foreigner to own and register a vehicle(i have heard stories you need a work permit,,as i am on a Non OA retirement visa

This is impossible as you are forbidden from working)

I reside in Nahkon Sri Thammarat province.

cheers

You will be getting a certificate of residency at immigration. Form for application: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/res_cert.pdf

You will need copies of your passport photo page, visa, entry stamp and TM6 departure card. Proof of residence will be needed. You will need 2 photos.

You don't need a work permit to register a vehicle.

For questions about the registration should post on the motor forum.

The rental agreement you mentioned in your OP would be accepted. They might want a copy of the owners house book and ID card attached to it.

Ubonjoe: tried without success to establish office hours for Nahkon Sri Immigration.

Also can you advise there is no gazetted holiday or RDO or such tomorrow 22/12/16.

Thanks

A rental agreement will be accepted. They probably will want a copy of the owners house book and ID card attached.

No holidays until the 2nd and 3rd of January.
