Jomtien (and Pattaya) - What's New after 1 Year?

Hello, coming back to Jomtien now after one year. Wanted to ask you what's new, what's changed or disappeared since January 2016.

Some of my interests:

- quality live music, especially Thai-oriented live music, but also blues and jazz (not beer bar bands or hotel dinner bands)

- the lukthung-morlam Thai music place at the very beginning of Walking Street to the right – is it still operational?

- Benjamit Coffee near Soi Buakhao still operational?

- Rabbit Resort in Dongtan still operational?

- anything especially about Jomtien

- *atmospheric* eateries and drinkeries and cafés, esp. for Thai and Italian food, esp. with quiet outdoor setting

- oil massage with or without extras in nice ambiance

- new car rentals?

- most useful ATMs in Jomtien

Less interested in:

- gogo bars

- beer bars

- sports bars

- Russian, Korean, Indian, German or fast food

Again, i mainly ask for *changes* in the last 12 months, not for general tips. Thanks!

- Benjamit Coffee near Soi Buakhao still operational? Yes.

- anything especially about Jomtien.  Well there's a rooftop bar on the last floor of D'varee. It's called D'varee Inspiration Bar.

  • Sandbar by the sea in Jomtien (restaurant)

  • Cafe le Mar in Jomtien (restaurant)

  • Glass House in Na Jomtien (restaurant)

  • Silver Lining in Naklua (restaurant)

It's so much more fun to discover these things for oneself.

Indeed, the residents generally do not really notice long term changes as much as somebody who goes away and returns.

Maybe the OP is in a better postion to notice the changes and give us a report?

It's still in business.

Biggest change in Jomtien would be the beach promenade, which is refurbished and has a nice line of new palm trees. Not much else changed in Jomtien, some new restaurants popped up, some closed. They cleaned up Night Market a bit, don't recall exactly when.

Can't say anything abt central Patts, never go there.

Sandbar has some great music lineups.  Several nights of the week.  Silver Lining had some great music, but the contract wasn't renewed.  Same band also played at Glass House.

For something different almost every week, try the Lion Pub on Tuesdays.  Different bands every week.

- Parked boats at Bali Hai have disappeared

- When you come back all taxi motorbikes may have been repainted in a blue colour

- All vendors have been removed from Beach Road (Pattaya)

- Central Festival (Second Road) has been refurbished / renovated and is now called Central Marina

- The Avenue shopping mall is now almost completely empty as the biggest (clothes-) shop has closed its doors

.....but but........they're working in it.....not sure if they're just taking out stuff or prepare it for a new tenant.

I won't be suprised if Villa Market will move in.....

That's what I understand also.  We need to be careful putting too many details here...these threads do get read by the officials.
