Your missing the point, exercise is great.. but to control your weight.. not so much its all about diet your diet is why your gaining weight. But as you said your ok with it so no problems there.

I do know one thing my dad who bikes a lot looks far better as all his piers, same goes for me too many of my friends have let go. For me its not about ego, small part maybe I just don't want to look like that. I like sports and healthy diet because of the energy and quality of life i have. If i look at my dad and what he can still do and i look others his age.. I know I am on the right track.

Similar for me.  Sometimes I think I'm just postponing the inevitable.  It's more than that though having been able to retire early I want these last years to be quality.  There's no guarantee on health no matter what you do.  However I know regular exercise and healthy diet are contributing to a better quality of life.

That's hard to put a price on.  In the end at least I can say I tried my best with what God gave me.

I suggest you find out what functional medicine is. There are many practicing functional doctors to be found maybe even in Thailand. Just google fuctional medical pracitioner's. From what I have learned and I have studied the subject of functional medicine for quite some time now. If I had any issues with my Thyroid I would not even waste my time seeing a GP or so called specialist in mainstream medicine as they have still not learned how to cure any form of Thyroidism. They just feed you drugs and if they don't work they remove your Thyroid and put you on meds for life. Thyroid problems are nearly always an autoimmune disease and should be treated as such. General practitioners cannot even understand enough about Thyroid problems to read the test results correctly. It was a functional medical practitioner that found and named Hashimoto's disease. Yes it was named after him a Japanese surgeon who figured it all out way back in 1912. Functional medical practitioners are sometimes referred to as Hollistic medical practitioners.Chok Dee

I practiced and taught Functional/Integrative medicine.

Get a Nutribullit and you can blend bananas right into ice cream.

The 1200 bhat Otto I got has been working very well.  I blew the first one up in a week because it may look just like a $500.00 Vita mix but it's not.  Louts gave me a new one.  Grinds flax and chia seeds great.  I just cut the fruit up before putting it in.  Does a great job.  Even blens a handful of nuts thrown into the mix.  Just can't push it to hard.  been working great for over a year.

I seem to have no  issue blending ice-cream and banana's in my conventional blender, how is the nutribullit better ?

Its not really a blender more like a dissolver. Very fast RPM strong 900watt motor and reduces things to juice in about 20 seconds. You can see demo's on You tube.

Well you should be able to cure your Thyroid problem then.

I'm almost at normal level now.  Somethings just have a genetic "blueprint that's tough to fix.  The body really is "planned obsolescence"  And despite out best efforts we often don't see 100% cure rate with various pathologies.  In my experience it generally doesn't end well.

Certainly not for the 9 month pregnant guys.

So, in a nutshell it does the same as my blender then. Awesome.

Yes.  Staying of wheat is and ongoing battle.  Intake of Pre  and probiotics is good.  I have found L-Glutamine essential for reducing hyper-permeability.  And other things .  Most people  really have no idea how bad wheat is.  For everyone.  Wheat Belly highly recommended read.

The gluten protein in wheat is not the only gluten type protein around, there are others and some people even have a problem with rice. Maybe further tests by eliminating other typed of proteins may assist in helping you find the culprit that is still annoying the hell out of your immune system. There is a lab in the States that specialises in gluten protein tests albeit expensive and they do have a mail service.

They are 10 times better than a blender.

I've owned a couple in the states and never liked them for the heavy jobs.  Making humus or nut butters.  Usually anything sold on an infomercial is best to steer clear of.

I've got the 1200 watt Otto "vita'mix" knock off.  I saw another one on the shelf up in Yasothan 1500Watt for the same price.  Picked it up and the motor felt quite a bit heavier.  Company name started with an " S"  How can you go wrong for 12 1300 bhat.

I've used blenders at my friends homes here that cost 2 to 3 times more with poor performance compared the the Otto "Vita Mix" knock off.

Do you do regular maintenance on your cars or just "wing it?"  Do you mind flying on aircraft whose mechanics just do what they like.  Can you see the madness in that?

Everything has a certain amount of madness attached. At my stage in life now almost 80 I am over the break even point its all a bonus from here on out. Life is for enjoyment not popping pills to keep the grim reaper away. With life you want quality not constant sick control. Once the quality goes do you really want to fight to hang around and have a few more sick years? Not me

Yes  I used Great Smokies for Years.  There are other as good or better labs springing up.  Truth is I already know what works for me.  My diet has to be strict.  It gets pretty $$$$$$ boring at times.

No Me neither.  At 64 it feels great being uncharacteristically fit and strong for my age.  People comment on it fairly regularly.  Everyone likes to be told they look good.  Especially if you're and old fart. LOL!!!

Just listen to the news. The obesity epidemic is very real and is advanced in Western nations. Just today, the BBC headline for UK news is that 80% of middle-aged Brits are overweight. Take a wander round anywhere in Britain. Fatties everywhere. Ever caught a flight from BKK to Manchester? Round is the new normal.

Excess processed foods, dairy products, sweets, carbohydrates and eating before bedtime is a major concern.

That's hard to put a price on.  In the end at least I can say I tried my best with what God gave me.

I have had this discussion with my dad, after he had a heart attack many years ago he changed completely. He started to bike a lot (and I mean a lot like 14.000 km in a year). He often tells me how others his age are who rely on pils and seem to love getting more pils from the doctor. They don't want to lose the weight (takes effort) or eat better for lower cholestorol (easier to take a tablet). Also they seem to have not much energy. When I see my dad for the holidays and we go snorkeling and walking its hard for me to keep up with him. He is in that good shape. He also does not look old and he can help me with loads of things in the house (DIY) without it being too much for him. He is also quite strong still. I am proud because before the heart attack he really had a big beer belly, its not completely gone.. but much of it is.  Now my mom never exercised and always has ailments and really not much energy.

I think by exercising (in moderation some exercises can be bad too like jogging if too heavy and other stuff) you can add quality of life but its an investment you make. My dad is 68 and i hope i got his stamina when I am that age. His regret is that he did not start this earlier (pre heart attack).

So its not really postponing the inevitable.. sure we will decline but at what rate and how much is in our control. But of course all this healthy eating and living is no sure guarantee you wont get something.. but the odds are stacked better.

Your 100% right.. if the quality of life is not good its not worth it to hang around. I like your thinking.

Or get a better blender.

LOL> it's not about the capacity of my blender. It's about not being interested in making weird concoctions that I wouldn't enjoy. It is used primarily to make delicious banana protein shakes.
