Gov’t studies upgrades to public water system

The Prime Minister’s Office took the first steps towards upgrading the country’s water-supply systems and water quality at a hearing in Pattaya.

PATTAYA:-- The Prime Minister’s Office took the first steps towards upgrading the country’s water-supply systems and water quality at a hearing in Pattaya.

 

Office Secretary Jirachai Multhongroey chaired a meeting of 150 local officials, utility companies and residents at the Cholchan Pattaya Resort Dec. 23. The meeting was called to collect examples of problems with supply problems, water quality and use of private wells in Chonburi.

 

Jirachai said that despite widespread public water supply, 500 homes in 62 communities have dug their own wells. Many did so, he said, because the flow coming from the public water system was unreliable or the quality of the water undrinkable.

Further govt study will probably result in the quality and quantity of water being declared minor annoyances to be fixed in the future.
