Somchai or Terdsak

Yeah...possibly...... but Terdsak may be used against him later on and be misconstrued in the western world.

I will let you figure out what kind of mean and nasty imaginative "misnomers" other children and young boys would or could create from that name in particular.

Just saying.

How about "Wat"?

What's your name?

Wat.

I said, what's your name?

Wat.

Listen, mate, what's your name?

Correct.  Wat is my name.

No, I'm asking YOU, what's your name?

Mongkut is a lovely name for a Thai boy.  If you want to go Italian then check out my name, Guiseppe, the most famous name in Italy and home of the Hawaiian pizza.

We named our second son "Tan".  No need for a nickname.

My Thai in-laws tend to have long names, so nicknames are needed.  Among them are Nong, Neen, Nap and Not. Try saying those together 3 times real fast.

You could also look for a Thai name that has the same meaning as his English name. That's what we did for our daughter.
