Special unit to investigate mass sexual assaults in Austria

INNSBRUCK: -- Austrian police have established a special unit to find the men responsible for the sexual assaults that took place during New Year’s Eve celebrations in Innsbruck.

The attacks on 18 women aged between 19 and 25 took place in the main square, despite intense police scrutiny and the presence of 90 officers.

The six perpetrators surrounded the victims, kissing and groping them.

The assailants are described as being Asiatic or North-African in appearance. Some have been quick to blame migrants.

Innsbruck Police Commander Martin Kirchler said that the unit would conduct searches of all asylum seeker shelters in Innsbruck and Tirol to locate the offenders.

The unit will also analyse video footage, and an appeal has been launched for members of the public to make their private film material available to the investigation.

The events recall Cologne a year ago, when over 100 women were assaulted whilst seeing in the new year. In the immediate aftermath it was reported that the attacks were carried out by 1,000 men of North-African appearance.

The aggressions sparked protests against sexual violence and in support of women’s rights.

Many in Germany blamed Chancellor Angela Merkel’s immigration policy for what happened, giving rise to calls for tighter controls.

This year police in Cologne dismissed claims of racial profiling in relation to hundreds of arrests made during New Year festivities.

Just when are the parasites that are supposed to be governing us going to wake up and get tough with the cause of all this.

The ordinary people have had enough in the US Trump was elected President the UK voted to leave the EU what next, in Germany Merkel to be voted out, in France  Marine Le Pen to be the next President, more country's in the EU having referendums and voting to leave? it's anybodys guess.

The worm is turning.

Muslim Africans already see women in general as 2nd class.  In their view, females from Europe are even lower, because they're free-thinkers.  And naturally, African and M.Eastern Muslims are going to be mega-turned on to attractive European girls.   Austrian authorities and all other Europeans should come down like a ton of Egyptian bricks on the buttplug pricks who are sexually abusing females.

Political correctness has no place in the equation.

That I understand what is more dificult to understand is why the European countrys and the west in general have allowed all this to happen the human rights brigade have gotten out of control.

It's like someone who murders a dozen people saying you cant execute me I have rights well how about the rights of the people he killed.

Same analogy applies here these people immigrants mostly think they should have the right to come to Europe and live anyway they want, they leave their own country usually because its a shithole where they have nothing and no rights only to try and change thier new adopted country into a copy of their old one with no attempt to integrate or try to understand the principles that made their new adopted country a better place to live.

The longer the immigrant problem in Europe goes on with basically nothing effectively being done to confront and deal with the problem the more likely we are to see a rise in extreme far right parties coming to the fore and perhaps even gaining power on the promise to deal with it effectively and decisively.

Happened in Germany only about 80 years ago and we all know how that turned out if something drastic is not done very soon by our moderate politicians I can see something similar happening in Europe in the very near future,

It's irrelevant whether the Austrian people were consulted before the UN passed this; the Austrian government signed up for it. The UN did not impose it on Austria

If this BS keeps happening, expect to see countries exiting from the refugee convention. As usual, a minority spoil it for everyone else.

Perhaps you should read the Convention itself before asking silly questions. Under the Convention a refugee always enters a country legally because they are a refugee. There is no such thing as an "illiegal refugee", and the means by which they sought refuge are equally irrelevant

They were given access through Merkels open door policy designed to help genuine refugees. However, many economic migrants entered too. Also the terms of the EU's policy on refugees states they are meant to apply for asylum in the first safe EU country they reach. However this mob tracked halfway accross Europe. So technically they broke the agreement.

whatever. They should have been interned in refo camps next to the Syrian border oversean by the UN. Not allowed to enter Europe and cause mayhem.

There was not a real Austrian Government in 1951.   It was a Soviet Occupied territory.

I didn't say they signed up for it in 1951. That's when the Convention came into force. There's a nifty little thing on the Internet called "Google" that will allow you to search for such information

Austria 01 Nov 1954 ratified the Convention.  It did not have autonomy till 1955.

I suggest you stop posting half truths about the Convention.

Does this make Austria  the new  Boom Boom center for  New Years Eve!     I hope there is enough cameras that do hi def  pictures, and local cell phone

shots to get most of these jerks, take their eggs from them so no more chicks will be hatched, then set them free to scream in their new high voices,  I,  I  I

am  soooo  sore!

Which half truths exactly? That Austria is not bound by it? The half-truth you are relying on is the 1954 date. I'm relying on the date when they signed the Protocol to the Convention - 5 September 1973. As I said previously, Google is your friend. If the democratically elected government did not feel bound by the 1954 action they would not have signed the Protocol

My advice for the "investigators" and police in general for the next New Year's "celebration"; male undercover agents dress up as sexy women (no worry to look as dragqueens because these Muslim zealots don't see the difference!) and give these cowards the surprise of their miserable life when they find out they get a cock instead of what they expected... I bet some aren't going to repeat it afterwards!!!

Hey Ang take em to court to silence them. Thats been your usual move of late. Its in the politicians handbook our Mr. Prayuth has a copy as well. Use your big club much like the one here. You released all these immigrants? on a population that voted for and trusted your judgement. Perchance you are going through that period in time when hormones seem to discombobulate(just came across this word itching to use it). Sorry to sidetrack a bit to Germany. Its all EU.

The time is long overdue just to kick this creatures out,, regardless if their country of origin doesn't accept them back and then instead of our navies escorting this undesirables into Europe, start patrolling our borders and refuse them to leave the African continent. So these people are poor.... So where millions of Europeans not that long ago, but we worked hard to overcome this and then we progressed. If some races or countries aren't willing or able to try to do the same, tough luck, but most of us aren't willing or no longer can afford to foot the bill for you anymore !!

Six; who may be refugees, may be legal migrants, may be Austrian born, may be Muslim.

Whatever the immigration status of these despicable six men, whatever their religion, if any, it is only ignorance and prejudice which causes any one to judge all refugees, all Muslims to be approving of their crime; let alone capable of committing it themselves.

I am sure that most genuine refugees and most Muslims are as appalled by such crimes as the rest of us.

Let's hope you are correct.
The police are conducting searches of all asylum seeker shelters in Innsbruck & Tirol, so these perpetrators should hopefully be caught quickly, as all these appalled genuine refugees will surely hand them over to police.

The whole problem lies in the word "most" ...

When pools suggest that about only 30 % of the muslim population in Europe is OK to fully abide to the local laws and custom, one could think that "most" denotes a very optimistic point of view.

If they know who they are and where they are hiding, I'm sure many will cooperate.

But it's a big 'if.' Do you know the identity and location of every criminal living in your locality?

I assume that by 'pools' you mean polls.

The accuracy of polls has been discussed many times, especially ones of this nature. It all comes down to the questions asked, the people asked those questions and how the results are presented.

According to all the figures I can fins, there are an estimated 19 million Muslims living in the EU. How many of these were questioned by your pollsters?

Last year in the UK a Channel 4 documentary presented the results of a poll which it claimed represented the views of all of the approximately 2.75 million British Muslims. They questioned only 1000 people!
