I need to go for a business trip abroad for approx 50 days, but that would be exact at the time when I shall renew my visa for another year.

Is it possible to renew the visa before it expires, I am due to go on 25 Feb, but on 03 Mar. I shall apply for new visa, usual it takes 1 month for approval after application, which means I wouldn't be here even I move the departure for a couple days.

Anybody here with experience about that?

Thanks in advance, cheers,

Charly

You can apply for the extension of stay (it is not a visa)  based upon marriage up to 30 days early or 45 days at some offices.

It does not appear that applying for it early would help you unless the office you use will do it 45 days early.

You could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife unless you have applied for one before for the entry you have extended. Then apply for the the one year extension near the end ot the 60 days. You would need to get a re-entry permit for the 60 days from the extension.

You need to be in the country at the end of the 30 day under consideration period. If that's not going to be possible you can go for the 60 day extension as suggested by UJ, or let the current extension expire. While you're abroad you could get a new Non 'O' visa and start the process from scratch. There's no disadvantage in doing that as long as you're not planning to apply for PR in the near future.

thank you both for the fast and good replies. Have been today at Immigration and asked the staff there, they told me not possible to start earlier therefore my initial idea isn't working out as you both stated. They told me that I need to start over again after I return, but that might be not easy first of all and secondly I am now here since 10 years and would like to apply for a PR next year.

However, all the staff said can not. Then I came up with your advise, if it would be an option to make a 60 days extension and than start apply within this period for another one year Non 'O' visa, big eyes, asking some questions and finally ok, can do

Without your suggestions I wouldn't be aware about this option and therefore would have been in troubles, thanks a lot.

If you are married to a Thai you can skip PR and apply for citizenship.

Much cheaper.  I think the employment stuff/time is the same.
