PM says National Strategy and Unity Commission has power to alter Thai history

BANGKOK, 12 January 2017 (NNT)- The Prime Minister has affirmed that his government is working closely with its national strategy commission and is intent on fostering national unity and progress towards true democracy.

Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha, speaking to the National Strategy and Unity Commission during its first meeting for the year, has reiterated the crucial role the body has in the country’s development, saying it has the potential to alter the course of Thai history.

He commended the panel for its continual progress but noted many laws it suggested have yet to come into effect, meaning there is still more work to be done. He urged the commission to address issues that pose an obstacle to national development and set the country on a course of reform with clear priorities.

The premier spent the rest of the meeting being briefed on the work of the commission and its four committees.

"Towards true democracy"........

1. I doubt the general would have one iota of understanding about these 3 words. (maybe not too many others globally either)

2. Altering Thai history? History can't be altered!......is he aiming to delete past history.....so future generations will grow not learning the truth about Thailand.....?

This entire administration is becoming quite weird....it's bad enough that many of these people in charge can't even make rational decisions.....now they have to change history!

First on altering history - Thailand defeated the Japanese invasion of Thailand in WW2 and Japan built Thailand's rail system as reparations.

When Prayut said he's going to bring innovation to Thailand, looks like altering Thai history was on the agenda.

Thailand is going to progress from a developing country to a delusional country.

That's nothing, the junta's repressive stranglehold of the country is guaranteed to alter the course of its evolution !!!

And if want to speed up evolution just put an "R" in front of it.

It is going to happen one day just reflect on history to see what has happen previously to repressed nations

Funny I thought that was the  job of voters on election day.

The revolution part is not working in China. The "throw them a bone once in a while" philosophy seems to work just fine there. They really believe that the Communist party is the "Peoples" party. Goes to show you how mind control works over a billion plus people.

Police and judicial reform anyone?

Never going to happen, of course.  Such reform would severely upset the applecart for the elites.

He is correct. They are already altering Thai history. They are single handedly sabotaging the tourism industry, that took 40 years to build. The industry is diminishing by the day, due to disastrous statements by Little P., terrible policy by the TAT, the abandonment of Western tourism, which was the real bread and butter of the industry, and a constant embrace of the Chinese market. Thailand simply cannot attract the wealthy Chinese market. They have too many other great options, that offer outstanding service, world class F & B, world class wine service, at prices that are competitive, rather than the currently inane 400% plus duty charged on wine here, luxury shopping without insane added duty, etc. They are only attracting mostly zero baht Chinese tourists, and it is a disaster to the industry. I have spoken to countless people within the tourism industry, that have confirmed the drastic drop in high spending Western tourists, and Asian tourists who are well heeled. It is happening, and they are indeed altering history. Unlike the vision they have in their rather overblown brains, it is not what they think.

True that. And it would represent real progress, positive change, and a benefit to all of society, except perhaps the elite, who would then have a harder time getting their sons out of the terrible holes they dig, and getting them off Scot free.
