Getting to Sakon Nakhon from Udon Thani

Featured Replies

Having had the previous misfortune in June 2016 of catching the bus from Udon Thani to Sakon Nakhon which took a painfully long 3-1/2 to 4 hours, I have since discovered there is a minibus service (Rot tuu) plying the same route. The minibus leaves Bay 11 at Udon Thani bus station at 30 minutes past each hour and costs 110 baht. The journey to Sakon Nakhon bus station takes 2-1/4 hours. Get there early as you can't pre-book and the minibus fills up quite quickly. Alternatively, if you've got cash to burn, you can get a taxi. The cost varies from between 1500-1800 baht each way.

Yes, Most Sakhon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom service buses are painfully slow stopping to pick up students everywhere as they do. A safer compromise than the minibuses might be the Chiang Mai to Nakhon Phanom VIP standard bus that does SN in about 2.75hrs. Only problem is that u have to get up really early as it stops outside Central at 5.30am. Tickets from the little round kiosk opposite.

Whats the problem ,  why rush .

Travelled to NKP by bus many times, have enjoyed  relaxing and enjoying the journey

the  social dynamics , of  the thai passengers  is  what i enjoy .
